『 路面清掃 / Road Cleaning 』
赤穂市の「交通公園」の路面清掃活動は、2024年3月から始めて、体調の具合をみながら定期的に行ない、7月末に行なった 11回目の清掃で当初の目標にしていた 600㎡ のエリアの清掃を完了しました。
これで、清掃以前よりも安全な走行練習環境が整いましたので、幼児の自転車練習や原付バイクの安全運転講習など、市の行政と警察との連携を改めて更に深めて、多くの人の交通安全に貢献していきます。
The road cleaning activities at Ako City's "Traffic Park" began in March 2024, and the 11th cleanup was held at the end of July, completing the initial goal of cleaning an area of 600 m2.
Now that a safer riding practice environment has been created than before the cleanup, we will further deepen our collaboration with the city government and police, such as by providing bicycle practice for young children and safe driving courses for mopeds, to contribute to traffic safety for many people.
『 人々からの反響 / People's Reactions 』
路面清掃活動を知った人々からの反響は、当初の予想を遥かに超えた大きさで、その多くは好意的で勇気づけられるものでした。
3月に始めた直後には、公式ブログや公式SNS で活動を知った北海道の方や海外の方などから、「手伝いに行きたいです！」と声援を受け、大阪や神戸など関西圏の方からは、「日曜日に開催があれば参加しますけど ・・」と実施日の要望を受け、そんな事前連絡は一切無く、二人の知人が手伝いに来てくれた時もあった程でした。さらに、5月の初めに地元新聞で紹介されてからは、自宅近所の方々だけでなく、赤穂市に移住してから顏馴染みになった人々にも知るところとなり、地元の方々は交通公園があまり利用されていない事もご存知なので、多くは興味半分ながら応援して下さいました。中には、新聞に掲載された早朝、祝儀（？）代わりのペットボトル入りのお茶持参で、自宅に励ましに来てくださった方もあった程です。更に、清掃活動中には、交通公園周辺の美化活動を自発的に行なっている方達から挨拶を受け、交通公園一帯でウォーキングをしている人々の他に、犬の散歩や子供の自転車練習のお供をされている方など、多くの方から挨拶や励ましを受ける様になりました。
さらに、ウォーキング中の高齢の方からは、「孫が二人居て、自転車の練習させたい」との声を頂戴した他に、公園を管轄している市役所の担当者の方からは「大型バイクに乗っている人から Uターンの練習に使用の打診があった」という連絡も受けました。とても嬉しい事ばかりで、その方々には、路面清掃が完了予定（回答時点では）の、600㎡ のエリアの利用をお勧めしておきました。そのエリアは、下図で示した、中央交差点から東西方向に伸びる50ｍ × 12ｍ の 路面です。
The response from people who learned about the road cleaning activities was much greater than we had initially expected, and most of the responses were positive and encouraging.
Immediately after we started in March, we received support from people in Hokkaido and overseas who learned about our activities on our official blog and official SNS, saying, "I want to help!", and people living in nearby prefectures even requested a date for the event, saying, "If it's held on a Sunday, I'll participate...". After being featured in the local newspaper in early May, our neighborhood and people who have become familiar with us since moving here have also become aware of us, and we have received greetings and encouragement from many people.
『 今後の予定 / Future Plans 』
最初は、路面全ての清掃も視野に入れていましたが、今は それはかなり難しい事だと理解しています。というのは、交通公園の設計と周囲の自然環境の影響により、清掃活動は決して容易ではない事を体験したからです。
交通公園の設計は、一般的な「沈みコース」で、縁石で囲まれた路面以外の部分よりも路面が低くなった作りです。更に、交通公園の周囲の河川敷よりも低くなっているため、風によって細かい埃や土が路面に溜まり易いのです。その上、雨が降ると水が溜まって冠水状態になり易く、その際に路面以外の部分か砂や土などの土砂が雨と一緒に流れ込むため、比較的頻繁に路面清掃を繰り返す必要があるのです。
そのため、当面は、今回の 600㎡ のエリア の清掃状態を保つ事に専念します。その後、中央交差点を南北に走る路面や外周路にある “大きな土溜まり” の対策を考える予定です。その “大きな土溜まり” は、長年の間に自然環境が育んだ 幅 1ｍ 近い大きさの土溜まりですから、原付バイクだけでなく子供たちの自転車でも転倒を招きかねない危険な場所で、それがコース上に何カ所か残っているのです。その土溜まりの存在は、僕が過去 30年以上、全国各地でイベント開催に利用したどのコースや駐車場でも経験しなかった “危険物” ですが、まずは、600㎡ をしっかりと維持して、市の担当部署や警察との連携を深めて、利用する人が少しずつ増える様に支援していきたいと考えています。
At first, we were considering cleaning the entire road surface, but now we understand that this is quite difficult. This is because we have experienced that cleaning activities are not easy due to the design of the traffic park and the surrounding natural environment.
Therefore, for the time being, we will focus on keeping the 600m2 area clean. After that, we plan to consider measures for the "large puddles" that are found in various places on the course. These "large puddles" are nearly 1m wide and have developed over many years due to the natural environment, but for now, we would like to maintain the 600m2 area and deepen our cooperation with the city's relevant departments and the police to support the gradual increase in the number of people using the course.
