Z900RS『持込み整備』企画、リポート / Your Bike "Fine Maintenance" Report

 

オートバイの上質で正確な整備・ファイン メインテナンスを、整った設備とサポートを受けながら、オーナー自ら行なう、妖怪ガレージ “持込み整備” 企画に、カワサキ Z900RS に乗っている人が参加して、「転がり抵抗が減った」との成果がありました。
メーカーやショップでも行なっていない、オートバイを本来の設計通りに正確に修正する作業をオーナー自ら初めて行ない、整備による違いを体験して、オートバイに対する理解が一段と深まった様です。

A rider of a Kawasaki Z900RS participated in the Your Bike “Fine-Maintenance” project, where owners can perform high-quality, precise maintenance of their motorcycles themselves with the support and equipment they need. The result was that the rolling resistance was reduced.
This was the first time the owner himself performed the work of precisely correcting the motorcycle to its original design, something that even manufacturers and shops do not do, and by experiencing the difference that maintenance makes, he appears to have gained a deeper understanding of motorcycles.

Z900RS 『持込み整備』感想文掲載しました / Kawasaki Z900、Your Bike "Fine-maintenance" Owner's Report

 

カワサキ Z900RS のオーナーが、妖怪ガレージ『持込み整備』企画に参加した結果、「転がり抵抗があきらかに減り、燃費向上も期待できる」との感想文が届きました。 特別な事な何もせず、ただ、数本のボルトを緩めて整列の “ズレ” を調整して、改めて締め直しただけではっきりと変化が表われたとの事です。

A Kawasaki Z900RS owner participated in the Yokai Garage "Fine-Maintenance" project and wrote in his review that "the rolling resistance has decreased." He didn't do anything special, just loosened a few bolts, adjusted the alignment, and then re-tightened them, and the change was clear.

Z900RS『持込み整備』企画、速報 / your Bike "Fine Maintenance" 1st Report

6月5日、カワサキ Z900RS に乗っている方が、妖怪ガレージ『持込み整備』企画を利用して、ご自身でオートバイの整備をされました。希望された整備内容は「車体整備（簡易版）」で、約4時間だけの限られた整備に留まりましたが、整備後の試走の結果、その効果をはっきりと感じたとの事でした。

On June 5th, a rider of a Kawasaki Z900RS took advantage of Yokai Garage's "Fine Maintenance" program to have his motorcycle serviced by himself. He chose the "Bike Body Chiropractic" and only spent about four hours on the maintenance, but he said that he could clearly feel the effects of the maintenance when he test drove it after the maintenance.

行なった整備メニューは、時間の制約の関係で、以下の内容です。そして、その際に計測した整列（アライメント）の “ずれ” も報告します。

Due to time constraints, the service menu he performed was as follows. We will also report on any misalignment that was measured during the service.

 

今回行なった整備は、ボルトを緩めて、また締め直すという簡単な内容ですし、整列の “ずれ” の量も殆どの人にとって “僅か” に思える数値でしょう。しかし、実際には、はっきりとした違いになって表われるのです。それが、大量生産で組み立てられたままの車体と、適切な整体整備（ファイン メインテナンス）を行なった車体との違いです。

The maintenance performed this time was simple, just loosening and re-tightening the bolts, and the amount of deviation in the alignment would seem "tiny" to most people. CB1300SB を所有しているから「車体アライメント」（前後タイヤの整列）について、改めて問合せを受けましたので、解説用の新しいイラストや表を添えて、より分かり易い記事を作成しました。

We have received some inquiries about "body alignment" (wheel alignment) from CB1300SB owners, so we have created a new article with new illustrations and tables to make it easier to understand.
 

 

アライメント（整列）とは、組み立てられた部品が本来あるべき正しい位置にある事、或いは正しい位置に合せる事ですが、大量生産されるオートバイでは、殆どの場合、フロントフォークや前後タイヤの整列は充分ではありません。
いつまでも、楽しく、安全なオートバイライフを過ごしたいと考えている人は、是非、ご覧下さい。

車体アライメントがオートバイライフの基本 / Vehicle Alignment is the Foundation of Motorcycle Life

 

オートバイとライダーにとって大変に不幸な事ですが、僕が知る限り、日本では “車体アライメント（整列）” がとても軽視されています。例え、ライダーが乗り難さを感じても、旋回時の左右で挙動の違いを感じても、それを乗りこなすのがライダーの “腕” と広く信じられています。しかし、それは誤った考え方です。それはライディングの楽しさを減らし、オートバイの寿命を縮めるだけでなく、間違いなく危険な状態です。
 
もし、あなたが “いつまでも、楽しく、安全な オートバイライフ” を過ごしたいと願っているのなら、部品を交換してカスタムを楽しんだり、排気音に心地良さを感じる以前に、【 車体アライメント（整列）】に関心を持つべきです。

Unfortunately for motorcycles and riders, as far as I know, vehicle alignment is very overlooked. Even if the rider feels it is difficult to ride or feels a difference in behavior between the left and right when turning, it is widely believed that it is the rider's "skill" to ride it properly, which not only reduces the enjoyment of riding and shortens the life of the motorcycle, but is definitely a dangerous state.
If you want to have a "fun and safe motorcycle life forever", you should be interested in vehicle alignment before you enjoy customizing your motorcycle by replacing parts or enjoying the pleasant sound of the exhaust.

 

車体アライメントとは、オートバイの様々な部品が、本来あるべき位置に正しく存在している事であり、正しい位置へと修正する事も意味します。例えば、直進走行中のオートバイでは、本来、前後のタイヤは一本の同じ線の上を通る様に設計されているのが［車体アライメント］です。同様に、フロントサスペンションの 2本のフォークも、本来、同じ平面上で平行に固定されるのも［車体アライメント］であり、それによって正しく機能して性能を発揮できる様になっています。

しかし、メーカーの生産ラインでは、厳密には［車体アライメント］の測定や管理は行なわれず、タイヤ交換を行なうショップなどでも［車体アライメント］の確認や調整は行われないのが一般的です。それにより、［車体アライメント］の狂いをライダーが感じるか否かは別として、オートバイにとっては本来の正しい動きが妨げられている状態です。それによって、オートバイの挙動に影響を与え、オートバイの寿命を縮め、ライダーにとっても、知らない内に、ライディングの楽しさが減らされて、走行上の危険が増している状態ですから、この［車体アライメント］の大切さの認識と理解が広がる必要があります。

Vehicle alignment means that the various parts of a motorcycle are in the correct position as they should be, and also means correcting them to the correct position. For example, when a motorcycle is traveling straight, the front and rear tires are designed to pass on the same line, which is vehicle alignment. Similarly, the two forks of the front suspension are also fixed parallel to the same plane, which is vehicle alignment, so that they can function correctly and perform well. 

However, strictly speaking, vehicle alignment is not measured or managed on the manufacturer's production line, and tire change shops generally do not check or adjust vehicle alignment. As a result, regardless of whether the rider feels the deviation in vehicle alignment, the motorcycle is prevented from moving correctly. This affects the behavior of the motorcycle, shortens its lifespan, and even for the rider, reduces the enjoyment of riding and increases the danger of riding without them realizing it, so there is a need to spread awareness and understanding of the importance of this "vehicle alignment."
