７月９日１２時２４分に産経ニュースが「北、ＳＬＢＭ１発発射　初期飛行に失敗か　米制裁に反発」の題で次のように伝えました。
『韓国軍合同参謀本部によると、北朝鮮は９日午前１１時半（日本時間同）ごろ、咸鏡南道新浦（ハムギョンナムドシンポ）沖の日本海で、潜水艦発射弾道ミサイル（ＳＬＢＭ）とみられるミサイル１発を発射した。聯合ニュースによると、軍は「初期飛行に失敗した」との見方を示した。

　北朝鮮に対しては、米国が６日、人権侵害を理由に金正恩（キムジョンウン）・朝鮮労働党委員長を制裁対象に指定したと発表。８日には米韓両国が米軍の最新鋭地上配備型迎撃システム「高高度防衛ミサイル（ＴＨＡＡＤ）」の韓国配備を発表しており、こうした措置に対する反発とみられる。

　北朝鮮は４月２３日にも、新浦沖でＳＬＢＭ１発を発射。北朝鮮は実験に「成功した」と主張したが、ミサイルは約３０キロ飛行して空中爆発したとみられている。

　ＳＬＢＭは発射の事前探知が困難で、北朝鮮は開発を急ピッチで進めている。』
