アメリカ政治の“今”を語る資格がある人かどうか、端的に知る方法がある。
「ラッシュ・リンボーについてどう思うか」と聞いて「誰それ？」あるいは「名前は聞いたことがあるがよく知らない」などの答が返ってきたら、ニセモノと見なしてよい。　
リンボー（1951年生まれ）は、長年「草の根保守」に強い影響力を持ち、またその意向を代弁するトークラジオのレジェンド的存在である。

1980年代後半、AMラジオはアメリカにおいても消えゆくメディアと思われていた。
それを復活させたのが保守系トークラジオだった。　
レーガン政権の規制緩和により、特定の政治的立場から「敵」を叩きまくる番組も許されることになり、ブラック・ユーモア溢れる弾丸トークのリンボーがブレークした。
