The lawyers for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange as well as his father are set to hold a news conference in Paris on Thursday, February 20. It comes four days before Assange is expected to attend his extradition hearing at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London. Assange is facing an US extradition request from the US on espionage charges related to the publication of classified military and diplomatic documents in 2010. He has been in a British high security prison for more than half a year serving a 50-week sentence for skipping bail. Despite this sentence coming to an end on September 22, a British judge ordered Assange remain in prison while facing extradition to the US.
