The following is from the column by Mr. Kadota Ryusho, which graces the front page of the monthly magazine "Hanada," which is attached below.
Japan, a "Reasonless" Country Rolling Down the Hill
It has been more than a month since the death of Shinzo Abe, an international politician who loved Japan.
However, even after the passing of the Obon holiday, Japan's extraordinary "Unification Church" (now known as the Family Association for World Peace and Unification) fever has not subsided.
The death of a world-class international politician, of whom Japan was proud, has not been mourned, but instead, it continues to be heaped with abuse.
The media, which took advantage of the intentions of the assassin Tetsuya Yamagami (41) to spark criticism of the former Unification Church and create the atmosphere that Mr. Abe "had no choice but to be killed," has left a major stain on history.
In 2013, the Cabinet passed the Consumer Court Procedures Special Law, submitted to the Cabinet as a "cabinet law," with psychic business and other matters in mind. The Abe administration also amended the Consumer Contract Law in 2018 to make psychic sales contracts "revocable."
If Mr. Abe is a "supporter" of the Unification Church, as the media would have it, please explain why he was willing to pass a law that would deal a decisive blow to the psychic sales law.
It is incomprehensible why former Prime Minister Abe, who has drastically reduced both the number of victims and the amount of money spent on psychic sales, would be a "sympathizer" of the Unification Church in the first place.
Politicians are not allowed to discriminate against their supporters.
Discrimination based on "ideological beliefs or religious sects" is strictly forbidden.
In other words, candidates must bow down to Rissho Kosei-kai, Seicho-no-ie, Kosho Gonenkai, Reihanokou ......, and so on, wherever they may be.
The cruelty of the media's clipping gives the impression that it was involved in "only" the former Unification Church.
The much-publicized message to the UPF is that former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon serves as the association's co-chairman. At Ban's request, Trump, Abe, and other heads of state from Ban's time as Secretary-General have sent messages to the organization.
It, too, should just be adequately reported without cutting it out.
As expected, it must have been too much for them to notice.
On August 9, about a month after the shooting, the Nara Bar Association issued an unusually scathing statement.
Immediately after the shooting, it repeatedly broadcasted footage of the shooting scene. Yamagami's statement was promptly reported in enormous quantities, "circulating" on the premise that the statement's content was "possibly correct information.
They raised their voices in protest against this abnormal reporting attitude and intentional leaks.
"The investigative authorities arbitrarily selected and provided the press with information on some of the statements made by suspects, and it widely reported investigative information without any assurance of veracity."
"It is a matter of course that the press should be constitutionally respected as much as possible for media outlets to approach and report on the truth of the case, but the importance of calm reporting based on accurate facts for the fairness of trials. It calls for the awareness and consideration of responsible media organizations once again." It calls for the awareness and consideration of responsible media organizations once again.
It is intense anger that it cannot open a fair jury trial in this way.
It is customary for a statement from a bar association to be politically motivated. However, it must have been unforgivable that the whole of Japan was being swayed by "investigation information with no guarantee of truthfulness''.
Journalists who have covered the case would have known that when a criminal makes a blabber mouth about his motives immediately after his arrest, the first thing one would suspect is that he is trying to hide his true motives.
However, he said that he had no political agenda, that his mother was a member of the Unification Church, and that donations had ruined his family and cited a message it sent out concerning the aforementioned Mr. Ban as the reason for the assassination and the media all together gave Abe a one-sided report that he "deserved" to be killed.
It is astonishing that the Abe Cabinet, which has dealt a decisive blow to the psychic business with its two laws, is now, on the contrary, "only on the side of the Unification Church.
Japan has been going downhill since Abe's assassination.
Mr. Abe was murdered three weeks before he was to give a speech in Taiwan that would have caught the world's attention.
Mr. Abe was scheduled to give a speech in Taipei after President Tsai Ing-wen's speech on the anniversary of the death of the late former President Lee Teng-hui, who died two years ago.
What would he say there, and what would he communicate?
The meeting between world leader Shinzo Abe and Tsai Ing-wen was something that China wanted to avoid by all means.
And it was possible that Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, might join them during Abe's stay.
Will the talks between the three, who embody freedom, human rights, and democracy, stem the tide of 2022 when totalitarianism began to "change the status quo by force" toward the liberal camp?
I am most disappointed that this dream did not come true.
Prime Minister Kishida only protested by phone when missiles were fired into his EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) and did not hold an NSC (National Security Council) meeting.
With Mr. Abe gone, who will stand in the way of China's wall of defense in Japan, a hill rolling downhill with the media leading the way?
Yoichi Shimada @ProfShimada
Japan has the dumbest media out of all the developed nations and the leading opposition party, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan. So how can we reduce the power of this parasitic power that always hinders the enhancement of national power and spreads falsehoods?
Yoichi Shimada @ProfShimada Ms. Sanae Takaichi said that she regretted the attitude of the mass media, as she believed that "the Japanese are not a race to whip the dead." On the day of Prime Minister Abe's passing, I had a good sense of today's tragedy when I saw Nippon Television's petty special features consistently ridiculing him.
The Japanese mass media have neither intelligence nor the ability to reflect.
