The following is a continuation of the previous chapter.
In the wake of the coronal catastrophe, the supposedly 'globalized' world has suddenly been forced to reconsider the meaning of 'borders.'
Every country is trying so hard to contain the fire at home that it cannot afford to look elsewhere for help.
It is a situation in which "reflection" on the excesses of "interdependence" and "shaking back" are likely to go beyond that.
As a close example, we have already seen a struggle for medical equipment such as masks and ventilators, and food export controls and supply chain reviews are likely to move forward.
The resulting economic slump is entering a phase that will define international politics.
We will see an inclination towards "chauvinism" and "strong power" in each country.
We'll need to be able to distinguish between friend and foe.

In other words, Japan should acquire a keen ability to discriminate between friend and foe, which is appropriate for such an era.
There are very few real allies, and the number of enemies will also be limited.
In the event of an emergency, increasing the number of "friends" from the intermediate countries through the persuasion process will become even more necessary.
As difficult as it may be, studying specific strategies for the world that will come after the coronavirus catastrophe from now on is crucial.
