首相 「令和の列島改造」 東京集中を是正 表明 年頭会見  大連立は 「考えず」
Pime Minister Shigeru Ishiba hold his first press conference in the year at Ice City, Mie Prefecture, on January 6 and expressed his idea of the reconstruction of Japanese Archipelago in the Reiwa Era, in order to take some corrective actions against too much concentration of things and humans into Tokyo only through the efforts of revitalizing the local areas in Japan. Multiple US medias like Washington Post reported on January 2 that regarding Nippon Steel Corporation's planned acquisition of a US steel giant US Steel Corporation, US President Joe Biden had finally decided to ban the deal. That decision would likely to be announced on January 3 in the earliest. It would be really an unusual case that the US president would halt the M&A deal by private companies in the allied nations. The decision would highly affect the investment by Japanese companies into the US business.

The US President Joe Biden issued on January 3 the order banning Nippon Steel Corporation's planned acquisition of a US steel giant US Steel Corporation. But on the same day both Nippon Steel and US Steel announced their intensions to continue to
realize the desal through the efforts of filing the lawsuit against the US government. But at present there is no other way but to take an action in the court, so the hurdle to get over seems to be very high.

日鉄、 買収「最善の道」 会長会見 米禁止命令を批判 「勝訴の可能性ある」

Nippon Steel Chairman and CEO Eiji Hashimoto had a press conference at the company's head office in Tokyo yesterday regarding the US President Joe Biden's order banning its planned acquisition of US Steel Corporation. The company had already filed a suit against Joe Biden and the lawsuit is expected to last long, but he said " We would not be swayed by something little. We are confident the way we chose is the best." Saying so, he emphasized their strong intension to realize the deal. Regarding the US president's decision, he criticized it was political meddling into our business with the conclusion decided. He also said there would be a high possibility they would win the lawsuit.
