「土俵の真ん中で相撲をとる」とは、常に土俵の真ん中を土俵際だという気持ちで何事にも臨むということです。そうすれば、万一予期しないトラブルが発生しても、余裕があるため、十分な対応が可能となります。
To do a sumo wrestling in the middle of the ring means that you should face everything thinking the middle of the ring were the edge of the ring. If you think so, you can deal with the situation due to the affordability, should an unexpected thing take place.

常に安全弁を置き、確実に進めていく、それが仕事をするということなのです。
To proceed with work in a steady pace with a safety valve always placed. It is the way of doing business.

額に汗して得た利益：
A profit acquired through genuine efforts :

「額に汗して自分で稼いだお金だけが、本当の、”利益”なのだ」。私にはそんなきわめて単純な信念がありました。それは、人間として正しいことを貫くという原理原則に基づいたものでした。
Only the money you have got through your genuine efforts with sweats on your forehead is a real profit. I have such a really simple belief. It is based on the principle that we should be persistent to do right things as a human.

ですからバブルのときに、利益が得られると投資する誘いを受けても、「欲張ってはならない」と自戒することはあっても、心を動かされることはなかったのです。
Then in the so-called bubble period, I was not moved at all by the invitation that I can get a profit through investments. A that time I only reflected on myself, saying in mind I should not be greedy.
