東京高裁で 同性婚否定は「違憲」との判断が出た 「性指向によって法的に差別的な取り扱いをしている」との指摘である 同種の判決は控訴審では2件目である ただし国への賠償請求は一審の東京地裁同様に、認めなかった

The same sex couple living in Tokyo and others sued the central government complaining that the present civil code rule is against the Constitution because it does not allow the same sex marriage and asking the government to pay for their damage. They once lost the case in their first trial at the Tokyo District Court, but they appealed the case to higher court. Regarding this legal issue, the Tokyo High Court gave a judicial decision yesterday that the present legal system is unconstitutional. The presiding judge Sonoe Taniguchi judged that the present civil rule goes against Paragraph 1 of Article 14 of the Constitution guaranteeing equality of all under the law, saying that it treats people "in a legally discriminatory way based on their sexual orientation." But the compensation for the plaintiffs was denied as the same as in the district court.

Yesterday on October 29, Tohoku Electricity Power Company began the operation of the Onagawa nuclear power plant, located in Ishinamaki city, Miyagi prefecture, 13 years and 7 months after its shutdown in 2011 because of the Great East Japan Earthquake. This is the first case that nuclear power plant has been resumed in the damaged areas by that earthquake. The reactor of the Onagawa nuclear power plant is the same type to that of the Tokyo Electricity Power's Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant.

与党過半数割れ 立憲民主大幅増 、国民民主躍進 政権枠組み流動化も 「政治とカネ」自民を直撃
投票率は53%前後 最低水準

Yesterday the voting and its ballot counting for the nation-wide election for the House of Representatives was held and the Liberal Democratic Party got a landslide defeat because of its funds-raising scandal. As a result, the ruling parties including the Komeito could not be able to secure the majority of all the seats of 465. On the contrary, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan increased its seats significantly, and so did the Democratic Party for the People. The problem from now on is how to form a political regime, which requires a difficult handling. Anyway, the political situation will become volatile. Voter turnout this time would be around 53%, which is at around the lowest level ever.
