The money I've earned by the sweat of my brow:

「額に汗して自分で稼いだお金だけが、本当の”利益”なのだ」。私にはそんなきわめて単純な信念がありました。それは、人間として正しいことを貫くという原理原則に基づいたものでした。ですからバブルのときに、利益が得られると投資の誘いを受けても、「欲張ってはならない」と自戒することはあっても、心を動かされることはなかったのです。
"Only the money I've earned by the sweat of my brow is a true profit." I have long had such a simple belief. That has been based on the principle that I should stick to things right as a human. Then, when I was invited to invest into something to make profits in the period of bubble economy, I reflected on myself thinking " I should not be greedy," and I was never moved by such invitations.

利を求むるに道あり、利を散ずるに道あり
There's a way for you to seek profits, and there's a way for you to use profits:

企業である限り、利益を追求することは当然である。しかし、利益を追求するにあたっては、人間として守るべき道理がある。
人をおとしめたり、騙したりするなど、悪どいやり方で利益を求めてはいけない。
また、たとえ正当な方法によって得られた利益であっても、その使い途は道理に沿ったものでなければならない。私利私欲のためではなく、世のため人のために使われるべきである。
If you are a business operator, it is natural for you to seek profits. But there is a reasonable way for you to stick to as a human in making profits. For example, you should not seek profits by degrading or deceiving others.
And even if it is profit that you have acquired in an appropriate way, its usage should be based on good reason. It should be used not for selfish greed but for the benefit of the people in your community or the world.
