The following is from the special feature interview with Masahiro Miyazaki and Yoichi Shimada, Professor Emeritus at Fukui Prefectural University, which appeared in the monthly magazine WiLL on September 26th, starting on page 246.
It is a must-read not only for the Japanese people but also for people worldwide.
Prime Minister Kishida misread the US conflict
US conservatives are determined to fight,
but what about Japan?
(Omitted the previous sentence)
Miyazaki
In the first place, the American entertainment industry is fundamentally pro-Democrat.
Shimada
The state of California, where Hollywood is located, is no longer the West Coast but the "Left Coast" (laughs).
All the producers and directors are uniformly pro-Democratic Party, and if you're a Republican, you won't get a role in a movie.
Taylor Swift also has to declare her support for the Democratic Party as a pose to survive in the US entertainment industry.
It takes a lot of courage to support Trump.
It's a harsh world in that sense, too.
Miyazaki
Hollywood stars such as George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, and Lady Gaga have also made no secret of supporting the Democratic Party.
Liz Cheney (former chair of the Republican Conference) and other neo-cons who have switched from the Republican Party have also stated that they will vote for Harris.
Still, the latter are expected to have little influence.
On the other hand, many big names are among those who have switched from supporting the Democratic Party to supporting the Republican Party.
Robert Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard (a former Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives) are at the top of the list.
The most prominent of all is Elon Musk.
Musk is already the cheerleader for the Trump camp.
Americans have a lot of respect for millionaires, so I think Musk's support will benefit Trump.
Shimada
Yes, there is an excellent chance that Trump will win.
In particular, the economic situation is deteriorating compared to the Trump administration's.
As mentioned earlier, inflation is increasing, and the cost of gasoline is also rising.
For a car-based society like the US, this directly impacts people's daily lives and household finances.
A sense of latent rejection of the Biden-Harris administration is spreading among the American people.
Illegal immigration is changing the United States
Miyazaki
Furthermore, the mass influx of illegal immigrants is causing further division within the country.
Shimada
The Republican Party has pursued the following three points regarding the Biden-Harris administration's immigration policy.
One is the cancellation of the construction of the border wall that was being promoted during the Trump administration.
The other is the immediate release of illegal immigrants even after they have been arrested.
This is known as "catch and release," and although it is often criticized, when someone claims to be a refugee, they are not charged as an illegal border crosser but are instead released to a friend's house in the US, etc., with the instruction to "wait for your turn to be screened." Finally, Biden has also called for reversing the "Remain in Mexico" policy introduced by Trump.
It was a deterrent policy that involved sending people back to Mexico and making them wait for their turn to be screened, even if they claimed to be refugees who had crossed the border into the US. Biden stopped this on the first day of his administration, saying that it was inhumane to force people to live in camps.
As a result, a large number of illegal immigrants have poured in.
Miyazaki
"Refugees" have become like the seal of the Mito Kōmon.
When Germany provided special treatment to Ukrainian refugees, such as supporting their living expenses, more than 700,000 people came to Germany.
Shimada
In Japan, there was a case where a man who had applied for refugee status claimed, "I am from Africa, but my parents abused me because I am LGBT. That is why I am a refugee."
Ultimately, the Osaka District Court ruled that he was a refugee.
If LGBT people are included as one of the criteria for refugee status, then anyone who self-identifies as such will be able to live permanently in Japan.
Furthermore, I can't find a single Liberal Democratic Party member of parliament who is raising a warning about this situation.
The government and members of parliament have a deficient awareness of immigration issues.
Miyazaki
Looking at how Kawaguchi City has dealt with the influx of Kurds and Chinese people, they need to catch up.
Shimada
If we return to the US, there is also a massive influx of Chinese people.
In August 2023, the number of Chinese people who illegally entered the US was close to 4,000.
Miyazaki
Many Chinese people enter the US via South America.
The base for this is Ecuador, which until then had allowed Chinese people to enter without a visa.
However, the Ecuadorian government could not control the situation, so from July 1st of this year, they changed the rules to require a visa.
However, even the enemy is not to be underestimated, and recently, about half of the Chinese people who entered Ecuador have gone missing.
A black syndicate is involved in arranging their entry into the US.
Furthermore, the influx of Chinese people is directly linked to the smuggling of fentanyl.
In 2021, there were around 70,000 deaths in the US due to fentanyl overdose.
What is particularly malicious about the Chinese is that they are not applying for refugee status but for "political asylum."
In the US, lawyers are waiting to take care of political asylum seekers.
Moreover, it takes about ten years to be recognized as a political asylum seeker.
They could stay in the US then, so Chinese people could keep coming in.
Even so, the number of people is small because China does not border the US.
Shimada
It's hard to go from China to Central and South America and enter the US overland.
Miyazaki
There has been an increase in violent crimes by illegal immigrants, and there have been many cases of rape and robbery.
A National Guard base has been set up in Texas, and about 1,800 support troops from six southern states have come to protect the border.
So far, about 400,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested.
The left-leaning media had been silent about their misdeeds, but they have finally been unable to ignore the situation and have begun to report on it.
In Germany, too, when the reality of violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants was reported, the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) won the state assembly elections.
Shimada
The states of the USA that border Mexico are angry that we have to suffer because of the northern intellectuals who say nice things, and they are sending illegal immigrants on buses to places like New York, saying that they should share the responsibility and the hardships.
As a result, even the politicians in New York, who have a reputation for being "humane and kind," have been forced to pressure the Biden administration to take action.
Miyazaki
They are screaming in anguish over the financial burden of dealing with illegal immigration.
The state of New York is providing shelter and three meals a day for illegal immigrants, and if there aren't enough shelters, it is even renting out hotels to provide rooms.
They are also arranging schooling for the children and giving around 130,000 yen in pocket money to the unemployed aged 14 to 24.
Shimada
It's a situation that could be called uncontrolled welfare for foreigners.
Miyazaki
From the perspective of New Yorkers, their taxes are being used to support illegal immigrants, which is absurd.
Decent citizens are beginning to move to Florida, and the number of people doing so has reached 620,000.
About 540,000 people have moved south from Los Angeles (California), which is also tolerant of illegal immigrants, and about 340,000 people have moved south from Chicago (Illinois).
It is a "new civil war."
Shimada
Ten years ago, the states with the largest populations were California, Texas, New York, and Florida, in that order.
However, the rankings have recently reversed, with Florida in third place and New York in fourth place.
Why has this happened?
Citizens and businesses that can move away are fleeing to the more conservative and tax-friendly state of Florida, fed up with New York's deteriorating public safety and soaring taxes.
As a result, New York State is becoming increasingly left-leaning, while Florida is becoming increasingly conservative.
The increase in illegal immigration is triggering significant structural changes within the United States.
To win the election?
Miyazaki
Why has the Biden administration allowed illegal immigrants to enter the country?
The United States is being destroyed, and the "United States of America" has become the "Divided States of America".
Shimada
There is also talk of it being an election strategy.
Miyazaki
Elon Musk also pointed out that "If illegal immigrants become voters, a national crisis is just around the corner. In the not-too-distant future, US citizens may no longer be able to decide the outcome of domestic elections. It is because the Democratic Party has been taking measures for illegal immigrants only to benefit the Party."
Isn't that right?
In exchange for registering voters and looking after them, they are being asked to vote for the Democratic Party.
Shimada
The Democratic Party regards those who have applied for refugee status as not being illegal residents.
As they are also obliged to pay taxes, they are entitled to work and vote.
On the other hand, in states such as Georgia, where conservatives are strong, they are moving in the opposite direction.
For example, in the last presidential election, you could vote in advance without showing your ID.
This time, they tightened the ID checks so that you have to show your ID to vote in advance and on election day.
However, the Democratic Party is vehemently opposed to this, saying that it is racist against black people.
Miyazaki
Why is that?
Shimada
The police in the United States are a racially discriminatory organization by structure. If they see a black person, they will immediately remove their driver's license or TID. So, the Democratic Party's "logic" is that black people often do not have ID because of discrimination.
Even with mail-in voting, the Democrats submitted a bill to Congress that would have prevented the need for any form of identification other than a handwritten signature.
On the other hand, the Republicans opposed this, saying that additional forms of identification were necessary, such as a precise Social Security number, and the bill was not passed.
Miyazaki
The Democrats are trying to change the social structure to make it more advantageous for them to win elections.
Some parts of it have already been changed.
Shimada
Statistics also show that 70% of Hispanic voters with the right to vote are voting for the Democratic Party.
For people who can't speak English well and who are in low-paid jobs, it's only natural that they would be grateful for the Democratic Party's policy of spreading welfare.
It's no wonder that people say, "Democratic Party members only care about winning the next election, even if it means destroying the country."
Many Japanese politicians are similar.
Miyazaki
Around 80% of the black population also vote for the Democratic Party, but support for Trump is also gradually increasing.
The black population in the US is around 12%, but if even 20% of that votes for the Republican Party, it is said that the Democratic Party will not be able to win the election.
The US presidential election, this time, is taking on a chaotic appearance.
