Toshiba sold the PCs knowing they were defective.
He would not budge on his demand to pay 1 trillion yen.
The basis of his argument was that NEC had improved the FDC, saying that overloading the current FDC could cause it to fail; it put on FD the market.
But Toshiba did not release an improved FDC.
That is all.
It was the same method he used to cause trouble in the small aircraft industry.
In Japan, which knows the shame of such a lawsuit, it would never have happened, but President Clinton, a lawyer, is behind it in Rio.
In the end, in 1999, Toshiba accepted a settlement offer totaling 110 billion yen.
Toshiba sold off its securities to raise the money but still incurred a deficit of 65 billion yen, which triggered the window dressing.
