The following is from Nobuyuki Kaji's serialized column at the top of yesterday's issue of the monthly magazine Hanada.
Mr. Kaji is one of Japan's leading great scholars.
I often find myself laughing out loud when I read his articles.
In this article, I laughed out loud at a point in the middle of the article.
My friend, a great reader, said that he laughed as much as I did when he read it.

The "Mere Old Man" is living a peaceful life, thankfully. That peaceful life is, as they say, living in quiet retirement, dividing time between work and intellectual pursuits.
The rainy season this year has brought too much rain. I've been spending more and more time reading.
Most of it, of course, is miscellaneous writing. If I were to read in earnest, I would be too tired to last an hour.　
Now, the best part of the essay (which is originally a compliment, but the other side of the coin) is Kohei Saito's "Money-making tool: The bill goes to the athletes" in the feature article "Talking about the Tokyo Olympics" (Asahi Shimbun, August 24, 2021).　
Mr. Saito is an associate professor at Osaka City University, specializing in economic and social thought.
Of course, the "Mere Old Man" did not know him. He was about the middle of his thirties. In other words, he was a young monk, 50 years younger than the Mere Old Man.
Somehow I'm not motivated to fight; no, I don't.
However, when it comes to fighting, there is no age limit, only life or death. Let's get to it.
A certain Saito began by saying.
The American political scientist Jules Boykoff criticized the nature of mega-events like the Olympics as "celebratory capitalism." Taking advantage of the festivities, specific people and businesses will benefit from significant spending by the government and host cities, and they will impose the rewards on the people.
There it is! It's stupid. That's my first impression.
In other words, the first thing they do is to hold up the theories of foreign (and even big national) scholars.
How about the theory of a great foreigner? You have a high head; hang your neck. All of you are in awe and have come to accept my words.
It has been a staple of Japanese scholars since the Meiji era.
They cite theories of people from other countries, especially those involved in research, and then elaborate on their views with similar content.
The author then expands on the theory and elaborates on it. Sometimes, it is even plagiarism.
Because he is not confident in his theory, he draws a curtain of support first, and when it is about to lose, he runs behind it.　
The story of a certain Saito is second-hand knowledge.
It is the end, but Saito then goes on to say that the government, the metropolitan government, and the sponsoring companies all have one goal: to make money.
He said, "The prestige of the country and the competition for sponsor companies have become excessive, and top-level players have been consumed and exhausted."
Then I asked him a question.
How is it that most of the top-level players are contracted with sponsors and have high incomes?
If they didn't have contracts with sponsors, they wouldn't just be exhausted; they'd be starving to death.

A certain Saito, referring to his book, "Capitalism in the Anthropocene," said, "I have sounded the alarm, but development for profit has covered the entire world, resulting in an environmental crisis that is difficult to repair. The rising temperatures of climate change are threatening the bodies and lives of marathon runners. "
So, I'll ask you a question.
I heard that Osaka City University, where you work, plans to merge with Osaka Prefectural University and build a new university building.
How did you criticize or oppose the destruction of the environment caused by this merger?
What concrete evidence do you have for this?
A certain Saito says that all organizations under capitalism are always trying to make money and that the harm caused is immense.

Where do you get your salary and other benefits from Osaka City University?
Isn't it a part of the money that the city of Osaka has taken from the citizens of Osaka (of which I am one) under the name of taxes?

以下は昨日発売された月刊誌Hanadaの巻頭を飾る加地伸行さんの連載コラムからである。
加地さんは日本を代表する碩学の一人である。
私は彼の論文を読んで呵々大笑する事が多い。
本論文も中盤過ぎた頃の箇所で大笑いしてしまった。
有数の読書家である友人も私と同様に呵々大笑して読んだと言う。

老生、ありがたや日々安穏に暮している。その安穏生活とは、ま、言わば、晴耕雨読か。
ところが異変―今年の梅雨、降りすぎたわな。読む時間が増えたわ増えた。
もちろん、その大半は雑文よ。本格的読書であると、疲れて一時間と持たぬわ。　
さて、その雑文中の極め付き（これは本来は褒め言葉じゃが、その裏返し）と言えば、「語る東京五輪」という特集中の、斎藤幸平「金もうけの道具　ツケは選手にも」じゃろ（朝日新聞令和三年八月二十四日付）。　
斎藤某は大阪市立大学准教授で、経済思想・社会思想が専門とのこと。
もちろん、老生、知らぬ人物。歳は三十歳半ばごろ。すなわち老生より五十歳も年下の若僧。
なんだか戦闘意欲が沸かぬ、いや、湧かぬのう。
とは言え、立ち合いとなれば、年齢不問、生きるか死ぬかしかないわな。適（ゆ）くぞ。
斎藤某は、まずこう述べる。
〈米国の政治学者ジュールズ・ボイコフは、五輪のようなメガイベントの本質を「祝賀資本主義」と批判しました。お祭り騒ぎに便乗して、特定の人たちや企業が政府や開催都市の大型支出で利益を得て、そのツケは国民に押しつけるというものです。〉と。
出た！あほ（阿呆）くさ。というのが感想の第一。
すなわち始めに外国（それも大国家）の学者先生の説を振り翳（かざ）す。
どうじや、外国の偉いお方の説ぞ。頭（ず）が高い、畏（かしこ）まって、承（うけたま）われ、と来る。
これは、明治以来、日本の学者先生の定番。
外国（それも有力国）の人物、とりわけ研究関係者の説を引用し、その後、同じような内容を自説として敷衍（ふえん）してゆく。
推し広げて詳しく述べてゆく。時には、剽窃（ひょうせつ）風にも。
自説に自信がなく、拠りどころのカーテンを最初に引いておき、負けそうになると、その裏側に逃げこむためである。　
斎藤某の話は受け売り。
もうこれでお仕舞いなのだが、斎藤某は、そのあと、国も都もスポンサー企業も、目的はただ一つ、金儲けをしてきたと述べてゆく。
そしてなんと「国の威信やスポンサー企業のための競争が過剰になり、トップレベルの選手たちも消費され、疲弊しています」と来た。　
ならば借問す。
トップレベルの選手たちの多くは、スポンサー企業と契約し、高額の所得者であるのは、如何。
もしスポンサー企業との契約がなければ、疲弊どころか餓死よ。＊私は、ここで終に呵々大笑した。＊
斎藤某は、自著『人新世の「資本論」』を引き「警鐘を鳴らしましたが、利潤のための開発が世界全体を覆った結果、修復困難な環境危機を引き起こしています。……気候候変動の気温上昇でマラソンなどは選手の身体・生命を脅かすほどになり……」と来た。　
ならば、借問す。
貴殿の勤務先の大阪市大は大阪府大と合併し、新大学校舎を新築予定とのこと。
そのことに因（よ）る諸環境破壊に対して、どう批判、あるいは反対したのか。
その具体的証拠は何か、それを示せ。
斎藤某は、資本主義下の組織は、何でも彼でも、金儲けばかりしていて、それに因る害が大きいと吹聴している。
ならば借問す。
汝が大阪市立大学から支給されている給与等は、いったいどこから来ているのか。
大阪市民（老生もその一人）から大阪市が税金と称して巻き上げたものの一部ではないのか。
そういう不浄な金銭などを受け取っても良いわけを説明してみい。　
この種のつっこみはいくらでもできる。
早い話が、前引の朝日新聞記事用の取材の後、朝日新聞から謝金を得たはず。資本主義の論理だからである。
資本主義批判をする汝は、どういう論理でそのゼニを受領するのか。
どこぞの国の困っている人に喜捨でもしたのか。　
ほたら、大阪弁で行くで。
お前はんはな、資本主義の片棒担ぎの一人や。
ほんまに資本主義が分ってまんのか。あほかいな。　
古人曰く、一目（いちもく）の羅（あみ）（狭い見識で）は、以（もっ）て鳥（とり）を得（う）べからず、と。

高市57％、河野27％、岸田12％、野田4％…やればやるほど高市氏の票が伸びる。今回の投票総数は約４０万票。

They are not the best brains in Japan at all. As I have already mentioned, I was the first to let the world know that the best brains in Japan go in the following three directions.
They go to Kasumigaseki, which is in charge of running the country. They are going to become a manager at one of Japan's world-class companies. They will become a doctor and save the lives of strangers.
The employees of the Asahi Shimbun and others are a bunch of second-rate people.
The above questioning session proved that.
At that time, there was only one good question-and-answer session.
It was the question of whether the current state of parliamentary deliberation was acceptable.
All the candidates replied that it needed improvement.
Ms. Takaichi spoke briefly about her experience as Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The stupidity of his praise of France and disparagement of Japan was at an all-time low, but there is only one way for him to redeem himself.
He should immediately follow the French example and write an editorial stating that the prime minister should attend the Diet only 12 days a year.
The Prime Minister of Japan must spend all other days concentrating on the Japanese people's defense, diplomacy, growth, and peace and stability.
All he has to do is to write about it in an editorial immediately.

先般、記者クラブで開催された候補者4氏への質問会の様なものについて。
愚劣な新聞メディアの記者に依る学芸会のようなものだったが。
所属先も名乗らずの無礼な質問者達だった。
彼らは、一体、何の根拠で、あれほど上から目線の態度をとっているのだろうか。
朝日新聞の子飼いの学者である以外に何の能力も無いと言っても過言ではない内田樹ですら、こう言っていた。
「欧米の高級紙に比べれば朝日新聞は幼稚園児のレベルである」
そんなレベルの新聞会社の一社員に過ぎない人間達が、まるで日本国民の代表であるかのごとくに思いこんでいる。
彼らは日本の優秀な頭脳では全くない。日本の優秀な頭脳は以下の三方向に進む事を世界に知らしめたのは、私が最初の人間である事は既述の通り。
日本国の運営を担う霞が関に向かう。日本が世界に誇る企業群に向かい経営者になる。医者に成って赤の他人の命を救う。
朝日新聞等の社員達は、二流の人間達の集まりである。
上記の質問会は、その事を如実に証明していた。
あの時、極言すれば、一つだけ良い質疑応答があった。
それは国会審議の有り様が現状のままで良いのか、という応答だった。
候補者全員が改善の要ありと返答していた。
高市候補は、総務大臣の時の体験談を簡潔に話してくれた。
多分、立憲民主党の杉尾の様な類の人間なのだろうが、官僚が作らなければならない答弁書に対する、質問が、たったの一行だった。
答弁書の書きようがなくて困り果てていた官僚に向かって、その野党議員は、俺の家に来たら教えてやる、と言い放った。
しかも、その議員の家は遠距離に在った。
高市大臣は、その議員に対する答弁書は書かなくても良いと告げた。
国会審議の現状が、近年、日本の真のエリートが霞が関へ向かおうとする意欲を大いに減じている。
これは日本国の危機である事を明らかにした質問会だった。
以下は、欧米の首相が国会に出席する日数を再確認しようとして検索したらトップに出てきた平成25年の鈴木貴子議員の質問書の最初の項目からである。
「我が国の内閣総理大臣が国会に出席する回数は、ある調査によると2011年で年間127日であり、英国首相の36日、フランス首相の12日、ドイツ首相の11日等、主要国と比較しても圧倒的に多いとのことであるが、安倍晋三内閣として、我が国総理と閣僚の国会出席の回数は、客観的に比較できるデータを有しているか。」
メディアで生計を立てている者達は、この点においてこそ、「ドイツに学べ」の大合唱を即刻開始して、霞が関をブラック企業と化している現状を正さなければならない。
日頃、人権云々、日本人は働き過ぎだ等の論説を張って来た彼らが、今、なすべき事は、この事である。

高市氏がテレビ東京のWBSに出演した時に、日本は女性の政界進出者が、フランスに比べて圧倒的に少ない、等と言い、フランスで女性議員の数が増えた理由は云々などと言っていたのが、日本経済新聞の論説主幹だった事にあきれ果てた事は既述のとおり。
おまけに、彼は、まるで、それが高市氏に責任があるかのようなコメントに終始したのだから開いた口も塞がらなかった。
フランス賞賛、日本貶めの彼の論説の愚劣さは極まっていたのだが、彼が名誉挽回する手立ては以下の1手だけである。
即刻、フランスに倣って、首相が国会に出席する日数を年間12日に限らせる事。
その他の日にちは全て日本国の防衛、外交、成長、日本国民の平和と安定に当たらせる事を、即刻、社説で書く事だけである。
