An earthware pot

2004-11-12 | pottery, porcelain

Do you know for what this pot is?

The other day, my husband bought this pot as Shizusan had asked him to buy.
I had never seen a pot like this till then.
In the middle and lid of the pot, there are some holes for vapor.

I found it was a pot for baking potatoes.

As Shizusan grew lot's of sweet potatoes this year too, I baked some.
They smelled nice and were delicious.

Bizen-Yaki

2004-09-02 | pottery, porcelain
This flower vase is a 'Bizen-yaki' made by the young man in Ta-ke-no-ko-mu-ra.

In Takenoko mura ('Bamboo Shoot Village' in English) , some handicapped men live together to be independent.
They grow vegitables, raise chickens and goats and so on.
They are self supporting.

Besides they learned the way to making potteries and are making Bizen Yaki now.
Their works are thought highly.

Now they sell their works at their shop in Kurashiki.

2004-08-22 | pottery, porcelain
Today is Sunday.

Let's have a break over a cup of tea!

This is my favorite tea cup made in England.

This Bone China of 'WEDGEWOOD' is very famous and popular

in Japan and perhaps all over the world.
