Beautiful moon in September

2007-09-26 | weather

17:51

In Japan, we have a custom of enjoying 'Full moon at mid-autumn'.
We put pampas grasses in the vase  and  set some dumplings or taro on the plate in the room.
And we enjoy watching the full moon.

18:30

It was fine last night and the air was clear, so we could see beautiful moonlight.
Moon-watching party was held here and here.

This is one of the annual events in Japan.

Visiting graves

2007-09-21 | shrine and temple

A zen-temple near my house

Equinoctial week this fall is from September 21 to September 26.

So the day before yesterday evening , we  went  cleaning  our grave and offered incense sticks,  some flowers, rice and water after that .
Our grave is in the bamboo grove, so lots of mosquitoes attacked us in spite of using insect repellent spray.
Besides it's very hot so we finished it as fast as possible.

And yesterday afternoon,  I visited my parents' grave with my husband and my son who happened to come back from Tokyo.

There is a saying in Japan, 'The heat in summer and the cold in winter will be calmed down around equinoctial week.

The cool fall is around the corner !

Rice plants are growing well and they have lots of rice ears now.

After a month or so, we will be able to harvest them.

Ha-ze-ra-n or Sa-n-ji-so-u

This tiny pink flowers begin to bloom around three time in the afternoon.
So we call this flower 'Sa-n-ji-so-u' ; (Three o'clock flower).

Tsu-ri-ga-ne-ni-n-ji-n

I saw this pretty flower in the weeds along the path.
Bell like shape and the thin purple color is very cute.
This is the first time I saw this flower.
