The first snowfall

 

 

It has been very cold and windy all over Japan by the influence of the southern cost low air pressure and a cold wave from the north from yesterday.

We have mild weather here, but I saw snowfall this morning.

The snow has begun to drift in the wind once again in the evening.

So I feel very cold.

 Tohoku district and Hokkaido are also very windy and snowy.

I hope it doesn't give any damage to the people there.

 The flu has also begun to prevalent.

We should wash our hands and gargle after coming back to our house. 

This weather seems to continue for some time.

I thought it was warm this winter, but it wasn't.

It  is a little difficult to read and understand these words this time.

So I searched for these words on the internet.

 

「舊年寒苦梅 得雨一時開（きゅうねんかんくのうめ　あめをえていちじにひらく）」

It means Ume blossoms bloom after enduring the coldness of last year blessed with the rain in the early spring.

 

「是無等等呪(ぜむとうどうしゅ）」

It is in the words of  HANNYA　SHINGYO and is the super best words by Buddha. 

Hakuin was a great priest of the Rinzai Zen Sect in the middle of Edo period and he explained this difficult Sutra through these words. 

 

First visit to a shrine

 

 

 

January 2

I visited a shrine near my house in the afternoon.

I saw few people in spite of the new year.

It seemed many people had visited there on January 1.

I prayed to the God for good luck and peace.

 

My daughter, her husband and my grandson came to my house in the evening.

We celebrated a new year together.     

First visit to a temple

 

 

 

January 1

  It was a fine and comfortable morning.

I went to our temple with my husband to pray our happiness and good health.

We prayed for about half an hour with our priest and the other people.

After that we had a good time drinking OTOSO, sweet bean paste soup with rice cakes.

we were given some tangerines too.

Before leaving the temple about noon, they gave us lucky bags chosen by the lot.

Anyway, I could participate the meeting at the beginning of this year.

I wish everuone could lead a happy and healthy life !
