Rice plants that were planted at the beginning of June are growing well.
Looked from the second floor, the rice fields look like green carpets.
The color of green is very beautiful to see.
My husband goes there every morning to control the water.
Some moles sometimes dig the earth, then the water flow out of the field.
In that case, he buries the hole.
I wash there be a good way for both man and moles !

Rice fields filled with water

 Farmers are planting rice-plant now.
Rice fields around my house are filled with water.
Many farmers are working busily from early in the morning.
And I see many birds catching worms and hear the sound of frogs.
It's full of the feeling of rainy season !

It was a fine autumn day yesterday.

So I went cycling for about half an hour in the afternoon because riding a bicycle is as good as walking for our health.
I knew that on TV program ;'Ta-me-shi-te Ga-tte-n' the other day.

This is one of the sceneries that I saw while riding a bike.
A farmer was burning the cut- rice- plants to kill worms or bugs in the field.

 

New leaves of rice plant are coming out after harvesting.

 Yesterday we removed the husk of all paddies with the machine.
It took about eight hours as we did the farm-work for both our paddies and the neighbor's ones.
We were very tired after the work.
But we felt good because we got much more rice than usual.
The result made my husband very happy.

Today we sold the rice.
To our disappointment, the price was very low.
It was 11000Yen per 60kg. 

Though consumers are happy, farmers are sad !

These rice plants are being dried to feed cows.

　Farmers are harvesting rice plant now.

It is said to be a good harvest this year, because the weather was good for rice plant.
And no typhoon damaged them.

Soon we will be able to have delicious newly harvested rice !

The color of rice fields are changing gold day by day.

Soon they will harvest rice-plants.

As they weren't damaged by heavy wind by typhoon and other conditions were also good this year, the rice harvest will be rich.

I heard they had already harvested in some district and that new-rice were sold.

Beautiful rice-field

It's very hot today.
It's good for the rice-plants, but it's too hot for us.

These are rice-fields today.
I uploaded the picture of rice-fields about two weeks ago.
They are not so different to see, but rice plants are growing day by day.

After raining for about a week, it's fine today.

Green rice-fields look beautiful like this picture.
Enough water and high temperature are necessary for rice-plant to grow well.
Water is enough now so they are growing well.

In spite of shortage of water, rice-plant is growing well.
Every day, farmers are watching their fields very carefully in order to fill every rice-field with water.
It is needed for a while.

' Ga-de-n i-n-su-i '

The surface of the fields looks green because of duckweed.

 In spite of the rainy season, it rains little these days .
In this district, there is no big river .
So farmers fill their rice-fields with water from some ponds and the brooks.
But the amount of  water is very small　and they sometimes fight because of the scramble for water.

Perhaps Japanese saying ’Ga-de-n i-n-su-i' came from this problem.

Now they are longing for rain!!

After planting

Yesterday I took a walk with my friend  in the evening.
I could see the rice-fields where farmers finished transplanting rice-seedlings.
The surface of the water was shining beautifully reflecting the evening sun.
