通信衛星 民間資金を活用 防衛省検討 周辺監視を強化 負担を軽減 米・韓国軍に回線供与も
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Defense Ministry has entered its final adjustment stage toward launching a communication satelite of its own in fiscal 2014 under the scheme of the so-called private fund initiative(PFI). At present the ministry is renting communication lines the satellite of SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation provides, but the service life of the satelite ends in fiscal 2015.Then the ministry is seeking to rebuild its satellite comminication system this time.The total cost of all areas from design to operation will be significantly reduced by having a tie-up with the private sector. The ministry aims to strengthen the capability of guarding Japan's territories "The New Guidelines of Defense" stipulate, as well as to delibearte on supplying communication lines for the country's private companies and military forces of other countries like the U.S. and South Korea.
