Niimi English Salon #137

We had the 137th Niimi English Salon session on September 20.

The guest speaker that evening was Andrew Scales, a Niimi-City ALT from Canada.

He visited England and Scotland this summer and reported on this visit.


Naomi Sugi acted as the interpreter for Andrew.
She did it very well.


This presentation was quite interesting because it was a report on England and Scotland from a viwepoint of a Canadian, who is from a different English-speaking country.

He introduced some pictures of samurai armors dedicated to King James I from Tokugawa family, and that was very interesting to the Japanese audience.

第137回新見英語サロン報告

9月20日(火)、第137回新見英語サロンを新見公立大学・短期大学の学生会館多目的ホールにて開催しました。

この日のゲストスピーカーは新見市ALTでカナダ出身のAndrew Scalesさんでした。



Andrewさんは、この夏にイングランドとスコットランドを訪問しており、今回はその報告をしてもらいました。

通訳をお願いしたのは、杉尚美さん。

お二人の息の合ったプレゼンテーションと通訳に聴衆は安心して話を聞くことができました。


今回は、英国出身者の報告ではなく、カナダ人から見たイングランド・スコットランドの報告だったので、同じ英語圏出身者としてどのような視点で見られるのかを垣間見ることができ、おもしろかったです。

また、この夏、ロンドンをはじめとして英国国内で発生した暴動がありましたので、心配しましたが、Andrewさんはちょうどその頃は、スコットランドに滞在中だったとのことでした。
