Buddhist memorial service

2004-12-07 | diary
On December 5 (Sunday), we held a Buddhist Service for my dead father and mother.

We usually hold it 49 days, 1 year, 2 years, 6 years, 12 years,16 years, 22 or 24 years, 32 or 34 and about 50 years after the death.
Sometimes we do it after 100 years.

The service of this time was held after twelve years (father's) and six years (mother's).

About 25 relatives got together.
After praying with a Buddhist priest for an hour before the alter that had been set at the 'to-ko--no-ma' of the house, we visited their grave and prayed there again.

Then we had lunch at the famous? 'U-e-ru-sa-n-pi-a' on the hill.
We enjoyed drinking, having delicious food and chatting each other.

My dead parents also must have been happy!

25 ralatives?! it's a lot, isn't it? When I attended a Buddhist memorial service for my late grandfather recently, there were only 8 counting me.

My parents have many brothers and sisters, so many people attended it.

It was like a small party!

I could see lot's of relatives I don't see everyday life.
