保守・革新のイデオロギーを超えて「沖縄人」としてのアイデンティティーで纏まろうということで、翁長氏を支持してきた「オール沖縄」の基本的な考え方でもある。

しかし、ここで言う「アイデンティティー」とは、先述の沖縄は本土とは異なるとする「先住民族論」や「琉球独立論」の別表現でしかない。

沖縄は米軍基地を本土から押し付けられて差別されている、「ウチナンチュー」は「ヤマトンチュー」に差別されているとする「本質的差別論」が背景にある。

しかし、前掲の伊波は「沖縄人の最大欠点」というエッセーの冒頭、「沖縄人の最大欠点は人種が違うということでもない。言語が違うという事でもない。風俗が違うということでもない。習慣が違うということでもない」と指摘した上で、「沖縄人の最大欠点は恩を忘れ易いという事である」と述べている。

沖縄と本土は人種も言語も風俗も習慣も同じであるという前提でこのエッセーを書いていることを見落としてはならない。

実際、伊波は他のエッセーで「沖縄人が他府県人と祖先を同じうするという事を述べる必要があります」「今日の沖縄人は紀元前に九州の一部から南島に植民した者の子孫であるという事だけでも承知してもらいたい」とし、明と交易していた沖縄人は盛んにその制度文物を輸入したが、「当時の沖縄人はやがて、支那人に扮した日本人であったのである」とも述べている（「琉球史の趨勢」明治40年、『古琉球』所収）。

東京帝国大学で言語学を専攻した伊波は、言語も民族も文化も風俗も、沖縄と本土は同系統であることを論証している。

これらは今日の沖縄学の基礎になっている。

沖縄と本土との不幸な関係の背景は、在日米軍基地の集中や沖縄戦での夥しい数の犠牲だけでは語れない。

誤解に基づく歴史認識もある。

沖縄の知事選挙の結果について、それこそ欣喜雀躍したのが中国と朝鮮半島だろう。

沖縄については後日に語るとして、この章では月刊誌正論今月号に、今こそ｢沖縄学の父｣に学べ、と題して掲載された八木秀次氏の労作をご紹介する。

日本国民と世界中の人が知らなければならない真実である。

沖縄の将来が心配だ。沖縄県知事選挙のことだ。

今回の選挙は翁長雄志知事の「弔い合戦」の性格が強い。

後継指名されたとされる玉城デニー氏が当選すれば、翁長県政の継承となる。

県は、在日米軍普天間基地の移転をめぐって辺野古沖での工事許可を撤回し、政府と対立関係にある。

影響は日米関係に及ぶ。

「沖縄学」の父、伊波普猶のエッセーに「沖縄人の最大欠点」（明治42年、『古琉球』岩波文庫、2000年所収）というものがある。

そこで伊波は「恩を忘れ易いという事である」と指摘し、「これは数百年来の境遇が然らしめたのであろう」と述べている。

ここにある「恩を忘れ昜い」とは、その時々の強い者に従い、それ以前に従っていた者を簡単に裏切るというほどの意味だ。

伊波は具体例として、かつて朝貢していた中国の王朝交代に当たって、琉球国の使節は清帝と明帝に奉る二通りの上表文を持参し、どちらにも融通がきくようにしていたことを挙げている。　

中国は現在、官製メディアを使って「回収琉球、解放沖縄」（＝中国の版図であった琉球を回収し、沖縄を日本から解放する）と主張させている。

突破すべく目標を立てている「第一列島線」（＝九州を起点に沖縄、台湾、フィリピン、ボルネオ島を経て南シナ海全体を囲む軍事ライン）の下半分の南シナ海を、岩礁を埋め立てた軍事基地でほぼ掌中に収め、上半分の沖縄を含む東シナ海にも食指を伸ばしている。

中国海軍は、敵前上陸などを担う陸戦隊（海兵隊）を２年後は３倍まで拡大する計画だとされる（米国務省年次報告）。

また、国民党時代以来の中国の謀略工作によるものらしいが、沖縄でも一部では本土とは異なる民族であるとする「先住民族論」が広まり、翁長知事も乗っかった。

その延長で「琉球独立論」も高まりつつある。

中国はさらに、夥しい数の犠牲者を出した沖縄戰を日本軍による「琉球大虐殺事件」であると煽ってもいる。

沖縄の世論は次第に中国の引力に引き付けられつつある。
