Does not Asahi Shimbun catch their own responsibility heavily!? Astonished Asahi · Editorial of comfort women
‘Monthly Theory’ April 2015

Why is it ‘writing by mistake’?
Edited by Asahi as of January 22, which I could not believe my eyes.
Seeing Asahi Shimbun editorial 'why do you reduce a fact' with January 22nd about the comfort woman description of the textbook, I could not believe my eyes.
Asahi criticized that the textbook company's Suken publication filed an amendment to delete the words of ‘comfort women’ and ‘compulsory entrainment’ about the current high school citizenship textbooks.
‘A description of a woman who was made a partner of a military sex under wartime disappears from the company's textbook’ ‘There is discussion as to whether the expression of ‘comfort women’ is appropriate, Prime Minister Abe also answers ‘comfort women’ in the National Assembly ‘The people have had a hard time for which it is difficult to render service to the explanation done’ .Why is it ‘writing by mistake’?
Furthermore, ‘Why did you acknowledge the correction of the description that MEXT is not an ‘error’, ‘It has accepted because the description after correction is not a mistake’, but it has a responsibility to explain, it set the target of the criticism on MEXT, too.
On top of that, he said, ‘The comfort women's problem is a negative history for Japan, so that it teaches properly, and that tragedy never happens again.’
For a correction application of Suken publication, for example, a variety of post-war compensation issues against individuals such as forced takeovers to Japan during wartime and comfort women in the political and economic textbooks are also being debated, ‘For Korea, individuals damaged from Japan during the wartime have been asked to apologize or make a trial seeking compensation (post-war compensation issue)’.
It is a very natural measure.
First, the word ‘military comfort women’ is a coined word after the war.
‘To be subordinate to the military’ means civilian employee, and although there were words such as ‘a (Red Cross) nurse attached to the army’ and ‘a war correspondent’, however, it was not and the word to say to be military comfort women wasn't used then.
The discussion, whether or not the expression is appropriate, which Asahi Shimbun says has ended ready.
Therefore, writing ‘comfort women to be subordinate to the military’ in the textbook is clearly inappropriate.
In addition, ‘compulsory entrainment’ seems to refer to Korean workers who have traveled from the Korean Peninsula to the mainland during the war, but this expression is also a mistake.
Needless to say, most of the Korean workers who were written that they were ‘forcibly taken’ in previous textbooks are people and their families who came from the Korean Peninsula to the mainland in looking for jobs with their own will is there.
As an exception, some people are recruited, but they are based on the law of national civil decree, not ‘compulsory entrainment’.
Suken publishes the reason for correction as ‘change of objective circumstances. It seems that the Asahi Shimbun is supposed to point to correcting and apologizing for false testimony report of Mr. Yoshida Seiji (self-proclaimed, former head of mobility division of former Yamaguchi prefecture romu-hokokukai Shimonoseki branch) that supposedly forced Korean women as comfort women.
Nonetheless, I do not understand why the Asahi Shimbun criticizes Suken publication correction application.
On the other hand, Sankei evaluated the correspondence of Suken Publishing ‘Naturally correcting inappropriate descriptions that create misunderstanding’. ‘There are inappropriate descriptions about comfort women, especially in high school textbooks, mainly in Japanese history,’ and other textbook companies also asked for ‘immediate remedy’. (Claimed on 18 January ‘Correcting unfair description is natural’)
Inappropriate descriptions of other textbooks pointed out by Sankei are ‘a young woman was forcibly collected and forced to oppose a sexual opponent of a Japanese soldier’, ‘Some of the women were taken to the Japanese army, there was also such as ‘a person who was made a military comfort women’, which may lead to misunderstanding that the Japanese army forced comfort women.
Yomiuri also said, ‘The essence of the comfort women issue is the presence or absence of the former Japanese military's compulsory entrainment.
In the survey that the government has carried out so far, no material has been confirmed that supports the forced entrapment by the military. Suken publication, it is reasonable measures to revise a confusing description that a comfort woman can read as’ forcibly entered’, evaluated the correction of Suken publication, and asked other textbook companies ‘reexamination of the description’. (Editorial on January 29 ‘We want to correct misleading expressions’)
Textbooks are the main teaching materials of public education. Even though there are some differences in historical views and educational perspectives, they must be based on facts to the last. Editorials of Yomiuri and Sankei (claims) are talking about commonplace.
Asahi also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last year deleted the problem description of the document calling for the contribution to the Asian Peace Fund for Asian Women (Asian Women's Fund) from the website (HP) ,
‘Why is it necessary to delete an invitation sentence? From the international community, the Japanese government may be told that the recognition of the history has been further retreated'
‘If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not changed its consciousness of the problem, you should restore HP from now’, it repelled. (Editorial October 19 edition the spirit of precious women's fund)
What was deleted is the phrase, many women including teenage girls were compelled to obey the military as ‘comfort women’. This was also a description that could be misunderstood that the military forcibly entered comfort women.
What does it mean to not delete it?
Asahi Shimbun is that it is not possible to throw comfort woman 'the compulsion taking' opinion of the untruth away yet.
It is no use to seem so.
Textbooks used in public high schools in the United States that were found to have descriptions such as compulsory takeovers of comfort women
Speaking of origin, the reason that the comfort women ‘compulsory entrainment’ theory walked alone in textbooks is the long-standing misinformation of the Asahi Shimbun.
If the Asahi Shimbun is truly reflecting misinformation, it should humble against more historical facts.
The comfort women ‘compulsory entrainment’ theory is now also described in textbooks in the United States of America.
The world history textbook of the major educational publishing company ‘McGraw-Hill’ said, ‘The Japanese army forcibly recruited and recruited about 200,000 women aged 14 to 20 years old to work in a comfort station,’ ‘It was killed to escape There was also a comfort woman.’ ‘The Japanese army dedicated a comfort woman to the army as a gift from the Emperor.’ It is an obvious false statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has offered correction, but both publishers and authors refuse to correct.
In terms of security, the United States is in a relationship to cooperate with Japan in cooperation with each other, but regarding history recognition, he does not necessarily welcome the efforts of the Shinzo administration of Shinzo Abe to correct misunderstandings such as the comfort women problem. Specifically, the Obama Democratic Party administration is strong in the tendency.
The stage of the historic battle…the war which tries to diminish Japan by the distortion and the counterfeiting of the history which is a making activity in China and Korean Peninsula the national policy of which is anti-Japanese propaganda…is also moving to the United States.
I would like the Abe administration to expect a tenacious diplomatic effort to correct the misunderstanding.
