According to sources, three domestic companies of Nippon Yusen,NTT and Mitsui&Co. have a tie-up with each other to establih a new system able to always monitor international physical distribution, using information technology, together with the largest port facilities-operating firm in China SIPG (Shanghai International Port Group).IC tags are attached to all freight and then the location of them is grasped through the Internet.
This will significantly improve efficiency in logistics management, relarionship works with freighters and the customs procedures.The time of delivery, for example, will be shortened by at least a day on average worldwide, according to an official concerned.
The new system is expected to begin its operation in 2012.Encouraging foreign firms to adopt this new sysyem,both Japanese and chinese governments also are supporting the project. And they intend to make the new sytem become international standards.
