彼は、取り調べでも、自分の諜報活動の目的は日本、そして世界の共産主義化にあるという立場を一貫して取り続けています。

日本で共産主義革命を起こすためには支那事変も大東亜戦争も非常に好都合であるから、この戦争をとことん激化させ、完遂することによって日本を疲弊させるべきであると考えていました。

戦時中の朝日新聞が戦争を煽るようなすさまじい紙面を展開していたことも、社内にはびこるマルクス主義と必ずしも矛盾しなかったと言えるのです。　

第三次近衛内閣が総辞職し、一九四一年十月十七日に東條英機に組閣の大命が下ると、朝日新聞は同日付でこう書いています。
