第７波と夏枯れ 同時来襲

　毎年８～９月は横須賀では心臓血管外科手術症例が減少する傾向があり、夏枯れと呼んでいました。他の施設に勤務中はあまり夏枯れという現象は経験しておりませんでしたので、横須賀特有かどうかはわかりませんが、ここにきて、COVID-19　Pandemic第７波が襲来し、病院全体の一般診療の入院が抑制され、それに比例して心臓血管外科への紹介も減少してきています。２０２２年が心臓血管外科開設以来、過去２番目のペースで手術してきましたが、ここにきて失速して、夏休みを取得するのにはちょうどいいのかもしれません。

  夏枯れ　と辞書でひくと、Summer slumpと出てきましたが、こういう単語、一般的なのでしょうか？

How to make your presentation effective

　Though we haven’t trained our ability to make presentation in school days, it’ll be necessary soon after we start to work in the society to be promoted or to gain the chances. It’s not exception for me as a cardiac surgeon because the competition among trainees, surgeons, teams, and hospital is quite fierce and only less than half of surgeons can survive the competition until the retirement age. The ability of presentation is quite important in various situations.

  I always try to make my presentations as effective as possible to attract audiences, and there are some important points as follows;

1. Speak clearly and audibly.
2. Speak slowly to emphasize the important points.
3. Use impressive charts and diagrams.
4. Record and stock fascinating images and videos on a regular basis.
5. Routinely review concepts so that you can respond appropriately when you encounter a valuable case.
6. Try to get chances of presentations in national and international conferences as frequent as possible. 
7. Always adhere to the presentation time given.
8. Never be late.
9. Dress and gloom in a manner that makes a good impression.

Certainly the most important thing is the content and conclusion, so I think that No. 4 and No. 5 in particular are the key to success.

　プレゼンテーション能力に関しては教育の機会がほとんどないままに日本人は大人になってしまいますが、社会人になってからは昇進やチャンスを得るためにすぐに必要になります。心臓外科医も例外ではなく、研修医、外科医、チーム、病院間の競争は激しく、定年まで生き残れる外科医は半数以下と言われています。様々な場面でプレゼンテーション能力は非常に重要です。

 聴衆を惹きつけるような効果的なプレゼンテーションには、以下のような重要なポイントがあります。
1. はっきりと、聞き取りやすく話す。
2. ゆっくりと話し、重要なポイントを強調する。
3. 印象的な図表を使う。
4. 魅力的な画像や映像を定期的に記録し、ストックしておく。
5..貴重なケースに遭遇したときに適切に対応できるよう、日頃からコンセプトを確認しておく。
6. 学会で発表する機会をできるだけ多く持つようにする。
7. 与えられた発表時間を必ず守る。
8. 遅刻をしないこと。
9. 好印象を与えるような服装
をする。
確かに一番大事なのは内容と結論ですから、特にNo.4とNo.5がポイントになるかと思います。
