The European Central Bank (ECB) decided at its regular executive directors meeting held on July 3 to raise the interest rate applied to the 15 euro area countries.With the increase margin 0.25%,the the rate will become 4.25% a year,starting July 9.The rate increase has been the first in 13 months since June last year.ECB's President Jean-Claude Trichet told a press conference that the most priority is palced on curbing the inflation.
He did not refer to the possibility of another increase of the interest rate.With the gap of the interest rates between the U.S. and the Europe enlarged, there still is a possibility of disturbing a financial market.
