beyond the call of daily life

いつもは読まないで飛ばしている個所ですが、Reader's Digestに、読者に謝礼をする投稿記事募集のお知らせが書いてあるのに気が付きました。 MY STORY欄に掲載する記事には$500もの謝礼が出るとありましたがその記事の内容は：
Personal stories beyond the call of daily life.
とありました。 "beyond the call of daily life" の表現は初めて見ますが、通常・日常の平凡な話ではないものを求めている事は想像できます。例によって辞書で確認します。
"call" で引きましたが意味が沢山あります。Dictionary.comの42番目の意味にこんなのがありました。
the fascination or appeal of a given place, vocation, etc.: the call of the sea.
The American Heritage Dictionaryを見ると：
The strong attraction or appeal of a given activity or environment: the call of the wild; answered the call of the desert.
"the call of the wild" は昔読んだ事のあるJack Londonの小説の題名と同じですね。Personal stories beyond the call of daily life.はPersonal stories beyond the strong attraction or appeal of daily life. と言い換えられそうです。
