聞いたことの無いのは "black-eyed Susans", "Indian paintbrushes" と "butter-and eggs" なので英和辞典を引きました。

これも「ひらがなタイムズ」８月号から話題で "Cat Cafe" についての記事の一文です。

猫の話題なので "moggy" は毛がふさふさしていることかなと思いましたが違いました。
Dictionary.com, COED, Merriam-Websterのどれを見ても単純にイギリス英語で "a cat" とあるだけだったので
Wikipediaも見てみました。
Moggy or moggie (plural moggies) is a British affectionate term for a domestic cat, but is also used as alternative name for a mongrel or mixed-breed cat whose ancestry and pedigree are unknown or only partially known. Because of this mixed ancestry and free-breeding, a moggy can either be very healthy, or, if from an inbred feral colony, genetically unsound and sickly. "moggy" is a cat. と憶えておくことにしますが、猫や犬については "feline" や "canine" の方が頻出する単語だと思います。

動詞の "resort" があるのは知っていましたが滅多に実例に会うことはないので嬉しい気がします。
Dictionary.comで動詞の項を見ると二つの用法があります。
1. to have recourse for use, help, or accomplishing something, often as a final available option or resource: to resort to war.
2. to go, esp. frequently or customarily: a beach to which many people resort.
もちろん記事はこの１番目の用法と同じですね。

RD６月号に "CRUNCH TIME!" と題した筋骨隆々とした若い男性が腹筋運動をしている写真付きの記事がありました。 "crunch" に腹筋運動の意味があることは知りませんでしたが記事を読むと正しい（効果的な）腹筋運動のやり方を五つのステップで説明しているので辞書を引くまでもなくここの "crunch" は腹筋運動の意味であることが分かります。記事の最後の文です。

OneLookで "customer-driven" を検索すると次ぎの二つの辞書がリストされましたので見てみます。

BusinessDictionary.com: Offerings, plans, or strategies motivated by customer demand or expectations.
MoneyGlossary.comの定義はかなり雑な感じですがBusinessDictionary.comの定義は納得です。
次に "customer-oriented" も検索しましたが何の辞書もリストされませんでした。そこで "-oriented" で調べて見ました。

しかしながら考えて見ると"customer-oriented" でも顧客のwants and needsに焦点を当て例えばマーケティングを行えば結局 "marketing motivated by customer demand or expectations" である "customer-driven" の マーケティングと同じ事であり違いはほとんどありませんね。

"pyramid selling schemes" はいわゆるマルチ商法ですが、問題となったのは "multilevel marketing" で、これも普通はマルチ商法を表す言葉ではないかと言う疑問です。そもそも日本語のマルチ商法もここから出た言葉に違いないし。そこで辞書を引きます。
