図書館に "Fifteen" があったのを見つけました。 この本を知っていたわけではなく著者の Beverry Cleary に見覚えがありました。 もう四半世紀前になりますが、商社の駐在員として米国に赴任していた頃に子供が読んでいた本を時々私も読んだのですが、その中でもBeverry Clearyのシリーズがとても面白く、"Ramona Quimby, Age 8" は今でもタイトルだけは覚えています。 上の子供が13才の時に帰って来たので、題名 "Fifteen" の年齢層が多分対象のこの本は読んでいません。 子供の本と言っても知らない単語や表現が幾つも出て来るのが英語です。数ページ読んだだけで早速意味が分からない表現がありました。
