The ruling parties submitted on the evening of January 29th to the House of Representatives of the Diet a stopgap bill for maintaining the current temporary tax rates of oils ,such as volitile oil tax rate, which is to expire at the end of March,which is aimed at extending the current rates until the end of May. This was taken soon after the ruling block's consultation with Democratic Party of Japan on the issue had failed to reach a consensus.The opposition parties are resisting this movement and there is a possibility that the Diet deliberations would stall.
