「パン・ペルデュ」とは、フランス語でフレンチトーストのことだ。
２１歳の時、パリの女子寮に住んでいた。土曜と日曜は食堂が休みなので、自炊していた。
共同キッチンでフレンチトーストを作っていた時、フランス人女子に「何、これ？？すごくおいしそう！！作り方教えて！！」って言われた時にはひっくり返りそうになった。
「ええ？これフレンチトーストだよ。知らないの？？」
２０年以上たって、フランスの友人のお母さんにフレンチトーストはフランス語で「パン・ペルデュ」と言うのだと教えてもらった。
パン・ペルデュと言えば、あの時の彼女はわかったのだろうか？
今となっては謎、、。
今でも時々フレンチトーストを作る。
"Pan perdu" is French word called French toast.
When I was 21 years old, I lived in girls dormitory in Paris, Saturdays and Sundays there was no meals in dormitory,
So I cooked French toast in commen kitchen, some french girls said me, " What's this?? It looks like delicious!! Teach me how to cook!!".
I was very surprised and said," This is French toast!! Don't you know it??"
After over more than 20 years, a mother of one of my French friends told me it is call Pain perdu in French.
That's why she didn't know French toast, she understood if I said Pain perdu?
I can't verify the truth now.
I sometimes cook Pain perdu even now.
