BBC Kenyan school fined for sharing photos of pupils 27 Sep 2023

 個人情報の取り扱いの問題。でまあ、記事中に突如ナイトクラブなんて単語が出てきて、学校と何の関係があるんだ、と思ってしまったが。

Kenya's digital regulator has fined a school $31,000 (£25,000) for posting pictures of students online without the consent of their parents.

This is the first move of its kind by the recently created Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

A nightclub and a credit company have also been fined $12,500 and $20,000 respectively.

According to the regulator, the club posted a customer's picture on their social media accounts without their permission. The credit company threatened clients through phone calls and messages using information obtained from third parties.

 びっくりした。学校とナイトクラブは別件だな。個人情報取り扱いで問題がありました、摘発しました、という列挙のようす。

BBC Bird flu prompts Namibia to ban SA chicken imports 27 Sep 2023

Namibia has suspended imports of live poultry and poultry products from neighbouring South Africa because of a severe bird flu outbreak.

The suspension was prompted by the "alarming spread" of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in South Africa, Namibia’s agricultural ministry said.

“New cases have been reported in all types of commercial chicken [production] in the provinces of Kwazulu-Natal, Western Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West respectively,” it posted on Facebook.

More than two million chickens have reportedly died so far in the outbreak.

“There were multiple offers of help and we will only accept aid that is necessary,” Abdul Hamid Dbeibah says.

BBC Hospitals are overwhelmed - IRC 13 Sep 2023

Many clinics and hospitals in eastern Libya are overwhelmed with those injured in the floods, the charity International Rescue Committee says.

“Ambulances are in need of repair, physical access challenges and needs for logistical support are making it difficult for health volunteers to reach affected areas,” Elie Abouaoun, charity's country director, says.

BBC Climate change: UN calls for radical changes to stem warming 8 Sep 2023 By Matt McGrath

Tackling climate change needs a rapid transformation of the way our world works, travels, eats and uses energy, according to an important UN review.

This is the first "global stocktake" to examine the efforts of countries to reduce planet-warming emissions since the Paris agreement was signed in 2015.

While progress has been made, efforts now need to be massively scaled up.

The report calls for "radical decarbonisation" with a fast phase out of fossil fuels without carbon capture.

 …差し当たり炭化水素でないエネルギー源でうっはうは、というと核くらいか。処理費用をそこそこに抑えれば、まあなんとか。
