茨城県笠間市の農村を囲む森には、落葉樹の間から、冬の陽光が射しています。
私は、久しぶりに、自宅近くの森を散策してみました。

I strolled in the forest in the vicinity of home after a long time.
私が森に入ってみると、太いヤマフジがありました。
日本の農村では、４０年以上前から、化石燃料が使用されるようになりました。
耕地の肥料も、石油化学製品が多用されるようになりました。
その結果、それらの供給源であった森林の管理作業が中断されました。
There was a fat Wisteria venusta when I entered the forest.
The fossil fuel came to be used for 40 years or more in the farm village in Japan.
As for the fertilizer of arable land, the petrochemical came to be multiused.
As a result, the management work of the forest that was those supply sources was interrupted.
このヤマフジが存在する森の風景は、森の管理作業が中断された歴史を象徴しています。
既に40年以上前から、このヤマフジは自生していたと推定されます。
最初は、左下の杉の周りに、蔓が巻きつきました。
杉が枯れた後は、ご覧のように、右側の太い広葉樹に巻きついています。
The scenery of the forest where this Wisteria venusta exists symbolizes the history that the management work of the forest is interrupted.
This Wisteria venusta has already been presumed to be natural growth for 40 years or more.
The vine coiled around surroundings of the Japan cedar under the left first.
It coils around a fat right tree with broad leaves after the Japan cedar dies as it is seeing.
森の中には様々な樹木があります。
自然に枯死した樹木も、しばしば発見します。
遠く離れた倒木の根の周りにも、ヤマフジの根は伸びていました。
There are various trees in the forest.
The tree that withers naturally is often discovered, too.
In surroundings of the root of a fallen dawn tree far away, the root of the Wisteria venusta has expanded.
この大きな樅は、樹齢60年以上と推定されます。
大きな枝の下では、常緑の樫が育っています。
私は、ここに立つ時はいつも、森の生態が常に変遷していることを実感します。
The age of a tree is estimated to be 60 years or more to this big fir.
An evergreen oak grows up under a big branch.
When standing here, I actually feel that the ecology of the forest always changes always.
常に成長を続ける森が、美しい小川の水を、絶え間なく供給しています。
さて私は、水辺を離れて、暗い杉の森の中に向かって、歩き始めました。
The forest that keeps always growing up constantly supplies the water of a beautiful brook.
Well, I began to walk toward in the forest of a dark Japan cedar leaving the waterside.
この杉の森は、45年ほど昔に植林されたものです。
植林の目的は、木材の生産でした。
その後、木材の需要は増え続けましたが、輸入自由化の影響などで価格は急落しました。
その結果、経営者は、森林の管理から事実上撤退しました。
そして今、不完全な環境で、杉たちは細々と生存を続けています。
暗い林の中で、杉たちの幹の間から、樫たちやサカキたちが力強く生長しています。
The forest of this Japan cedar is the one afforested for about 45 years in old times.
The purpose of afforestation was production of wood.
Afterwards, the price has fallen sharply because of the influence of the liberalization of imports etc. though the demand for wood kept increasing.
As a result, the manager withdrew from the management of the forest in fact.
And, Japan cedars keep living in detail in an imperfect environment now.
Oaks and Tristylium ochnaceum grow up powerfully in a dark woods between Japan cedars' trunks.
杉の林の縁に、昔に使われていた小道があります。
その小道の左上の斜面には、広葉樹林があります。
半世紀前、荷車や馬車がこの小道をしばしば通りました。
現在は、ヤマザクラの枯れ木にふさがれています。
たくさんの大きな落ち葉が、一面に落ちています。
それらは、大きな香り高い花を咲かせるホウノキの落ち葉たちです。
In the edge of the woods of the Japan cedar, there is a footpath that had been used in old times.
In the slope on the left of the footpath, there is a broadleaf forest.
The cart and the wagon had often passed this footpath before half a century.
It ..Prunus superflua withered tree.. is blocked now.
A lot of big fallen leaves have fallen all over.
They are fallen leaves of [hounoki] that makes a big, flavorful flower bloom.
私の足元に、蜂の巣が落ちていました。
去年の秋には、大型で強い台風が、日本列島を通過し、被害をもたらしました。
The beehive had dropped in my feet.
The large and powerful typhoon passed over the Japanese Islands last autumn, and the take its toll.
大きなヤマザクラが、力強く成長しています。
近くで偶然に自生した樫が、太い幹に挟まれています。
このヤマザクラは、40年ほど前に、伐採された後、その切り株から再び芽を出しました。
そして今、たくさんの幹と枝を備えて、力強い姿になりました。
A big Prunus superflua grows up powerfully.
The oak that grows naturally by chance in the vicinity narrows in a fat trunk.
After it was deforested, this Prunus superflua put out the bud from the stump again for about 40 years ago.
And, it provided with a lot of trunks and branches now, and it became a powerful appearance.
茨城県笠間市の春は、たくさんの美しいヤマザクラに彩られます。
このヤマザクラの先に、見晴らしの良い森があります。

A lot of beautiful Prunus superflua are colored in the spring of Ibaraki Prefecture Kasama City.
