The labor union of Toyota Motor Corporation (chaired by Mitsuyuki Tsuruoka) has decided to begin encouraging some 9,000 temporary employees working in the Toyota's domestic plants to gradually join in the union. The targeted workers are so-called "temporary contract workers"
hired in general for the period from four to six month. Under the current conditions,some of them can extend their contract period until 2 years and 11 months at the most.The union intends to improve the labor conditions of that kind workers such as wages and others by receiving the workers as its members.In these circumstances,it has a schedule to do preparation and begin the subscription procedure by next summer,and expect,in the first stage, 20,000 to 30,000 workers to join in the union .
