interregnum

Gary Marcus and Ernest Davisの "Rebooting AI" を読んでいます。

The real risk is not superintelligence, it is idiot savant with power, such as autonomous weapons that could target people, with no values to constrain them, or AI-driven newsfeeds that, lacking superintelligence, priotize short-term sales without evaluating their impact on long-term values.
For now, we are in a kind of interregnum: narrow but networked intelligence with autonomy, but too little genuine intelligence to be able to reason about the consequences of the power. In time, AI will grow more sophisticated; the sooner it can be made to reason about the consequences of its action, the better.

"interregnum" を調べます。

・Oxford English Dictionary: a period of time during which a country, an organization, etc. does not have a leader and is waiting for a new one
・Collins Dictionary: An interregnum is a period between the end of one person's time as ruler or leader and the coming to power of the next ruler or leader.: However, I noticed how well you coped in the interregnum before Father Whit-taker's induction.
・Cambridge English Dictionary: a period when a country or organization does not have a leader: The interregnum period is the period you want to look at first.

辞書の説明はほとんどがリーダーの不在になっている期間でしたが、引用文はAIの話をしているので、真のAIはまだ出現していない現在のAIの時代を示しているのでしょう。
