この単語はjiaozi（餃子）を作り方の記事ではなく、家族の皆で作った思い出の話(リーダーズダイジェスト2月号)からです。

餃子の皮の中に具を入れた後、皮に波をつけて押しつぶして皮をふさぎますが、その事に "crimp" と言う私にとっては懐かしい単語が使えるのですね。若い頃コンピュータや電子機器を扱っていて、配線に圧着端子を使うこともあったのですが、ケーブルに圧着端子を取り付ける場合に "crimp" するのです。 "crimp" の意味を今まで辞書で見たことはないので、この際見てみます。

やはり辞書は見るものですね。 "crimp" は金属加工や料理（餃子作りにだけではなく）での微妙な作業に使われる事が良く分かりましたし、Cookery、5.bの説明は魚の活き締めの方法の一つではないですか。　活き締めする事を英語で "crimp" あるいは "gash" と言うことを知るなんて得をした気がします。
