pique

会社の昼休みに読む本とは別に夜寝る前にベットで雑誌の "English Journal" か "ひらがなタイムズ" をほんの数ページ読んで寝る事にしているのですが、両方とも予約待ちで読むものがなくなったので、買ったままで長いことほっておいた（大きくて厚い本なので） "Psychology Made Simple" を読むことにしました。
Chapter 1 (What is Psychology?) の終わりにあるテストに次ぎの文がありました。
Last night, Mia watched the movie Silence of the Lambs, and now she thinks that she would like to become the type of psychologist who helps police officers solve crimes.
What field of psychology has piqued Mia's intrest?
a. rehabilitation psychology
b. development psychology
c. forensic psychology
d. sports psychology
"piqued" の意味は「怒らせる」とか「傷つける」だったと憶えていますが上の文の意味は明らかに違います。　そこでいつものようにあDictinary.comを見ると、目的語がある場合の意味として：
1. to affect with sharp irritation and resentment, esp. by some wound to pride: She was greatly piqued when they refused her invitation.
2. to wound (the pride, vanity, etc.).
3. to excite (interest, curiosity, etc.): Her curiosity was piqued by the gossip.
4. to arouse an emotion or provoke to action: to pique someone to answer a challenge.
テキストでの "pique" は3.もしくは4.と同じような意味で、興味をそそる、刺激すると言う事でしょう。
