RCD testers are designed to simulate a range of fault currents, with restrictions on the duration of the fault current, and to time the operation of the device. This will indicate the ability of the RCD to interrupt a particular fault current within certain time limits to ensure protection against fire, damage and electrocution.
Wiktionary:
1. The accidental death or suicide by electric shock.
2. Deliberate execution by electric shock, usually involving an electric chair.
3. (informal, deprecated) A severe electric shock, whether fatal or not.
Usage notes: Formally, the words electrocute and electrocution always imply fatality. Informally, however, these terms are sometimes used to refer to serious but nonfatal electric shocks. Correct usage is to reserve electrocute and electrocution for fatal electric shocks, and to use shock or electric shock for nonfatal ones.
・Britannica Concise Encyclopedia: Method of execution in which the condemned person is subjected to a heavy charge of electric current. The prisoner is shackled into a wired chair, and electrodes are fastened to the head and one leg so that the current will flow through the body. One electrical shock may not be enough to kill the person; if a doctor does not confirm the death, several shocks may be applied. The electric chair was first used in 1890. Electrocution also refers to death by other causes of electrical shock (e.g., accidental contact with high-voltage wiring).
やはり私には "electrocution" の方が "electric shock" よりショックが大きいですね。
