人生というドラマ
Our lives are like dramas:

人生とはドラマであり、演ずる主役が自分なのだ。一生かけてどういうドラマを描くかが問われている。
Our lives could be said to be dramas, and each of us is a main character. What kind of drama you are going to play is being asked.

運命は生まれたときから決まっていると言われるかもしれない。しかし自分の心を高めていくことによって、運命をも変えることができる。素晴らしい心根は、必ず天に通じていくからだ。
You may say our fates are decided when we are born, but any fate could be changed by enhancing your own mind. Because our hearts will reach Heaven.

美しき人間の本性
Our true nature as humans:

仏教で、「一人ひとりに仏が宿っている」と教えるように、人間の本性とはもともと美しいものです。
As Buddhism tells us," The buddha resides in everyone," our true nature as humans is beautiful originally.

「愛と誠と調和」に満ち、また「真・善・美」、あるいは「良心」という言葉で表すことができるような、崇高なものであるはずです。
It should be what is noble and could be expressed like it is full of "love, sincerity, and harmony," "truth, virtue, and beauty," or "conscience."

人間は「反省」をすることで、この本来もっている、美しい心を開花させることができるのです。
By reflecting on things sometimes, we could make these natural noble minds bloom.

反省と利他の心
Self-reflection and the mind of altruism:

「反省」をするということは、ともすれば利己で満たされがちな心を、浄化しようとすることです。
Reflecting on something you've done means purifying your mind which has a tendency to be filled with egoism.

私は「反省」を繰り返すことで自らを戒め、利己的な思いを少しでも抑えることができれば、心の中には、人間が本来持っているはずの美しい「利他」の心が現れてくると考えています。
I think the mind of altruism, which we have originally, will appear in our minds all, if we could be able to suppress our egoistic way of thinking even a little bit by keeping on self-reflection and admonishing ourselves.

苦労は成功の土台
Difficulty is a foundation of your success:

人生で経験してきた、数えきれないくらいたくさんの苦労や挫折は、ちょうどオセロの石が一気に黒から白に返るかのように、後にすべて成功の土台となってくれる。
Countless difficulties or failures we have experienced in our life could be a foundation of success later, just like the stones in Othello game are, all of a sudden, changed into black from white.

悩みなき成長はない
There is no progress without worries:

「あいつは、かわいそうだ」ーーーー。
人間というのは、周囲からこう言われるくらい不幸な境遇に、一度は置かれたほうがいいのかもしれません。
" That guy is really poor."....
You might be better if you are once placed in a hardship like the above-mentioned.

ちょうど冬の寒さが厳しければ厳しいほど、桜が美しい花を咲かせるのと同じように、悩みや苦しみを体験しなければ、人は大きく伸びないし、本当の幸福をつかむことができないのでしょう。
The severer coldness in winter is, the more beautiful cherry blossoms would be in spring. Like that, you could not make a big progress or become happy in a real sense unless you have got through worries or hardships.
