customer driven/customer oriented

マーケティング・ビジネス英語の勉強会、BizComで "customer-driven" と "customer-oriented" の違いは何かが話題になりました。その場で私は何か適当（適切の意味ではありません）な解釈を述べましたが、怪しい限りの解釈なので宿題として調べて見ました。
OneLookで "customer-driven" を検索すると次ぎの二つの辞書がリストされましたので見てみます。
MoneyGlossary.com: When a product is continuously modified.
BusinessDictionary.com: Offerings, plans, or strategies motivated by customer demand or expectations.
MoneyGlossary.comの定義はかなり雑な感じですがBusinessDictionary.comの定義は納得です。
次に "customer-oriented" も検索しましたが何の辞書もリストされませんでした。そこで "-oriented" で調べて見ました。

orientated UK (US oriented):
showing the direction in which something is aimed:
She wants to turn the company into a profit-orientated organization.
Hotels are a service-oriented industry.
なるほど、"-oriented" となると目標、標的、志向を示しているのですね。
ついでに "-driven" も見ると：
TheFreeDictionary:
Caused, sustained, or stimulated: an export-driven economic recovery.
Powered, operated, or controlled: a piston-driven airplane; a menu-driven software program.
Cambridge International Dictionary
The fact remains that there are some public services that cannot be entirely market-driven (= controlled by economic forces).
とありました。"customer-driven" の場合はcustomerによってPowered, operated, or controlledされている訳ではなく、Caused, sustained, or stimulatedの方が当たっていますのでBusinessDictionary.comの説明Offerings, plans, or strategies motivated by customer demand or expectations.は適切な定義と思います。
しかしながら考えて見ると"customer-oriented" でも顧客のwants and needsに焦点を当て例えばマーケティングを行えば結局 "marketing motivated by customer demand or expectations" である "customer-driven" の マーケティングと同じ事であり違いはほとんどありませんね。
