　インターポールと現地機関との共同で49件の逮捕に至った：

「Migrants from India, Nepal and Bangladesh were reportedly paying between $15,000 and $30,000 for each journey into the United States.」

　1万5千から3万ドル。200~300万円くらいか。かなりの高額といえそう。

「Chilean authorities also found Bangladeshi migrants trying to obtain temporary visas by posing as crew members of a shipping company with the help of smugglers.」

　…かなり真っ当そうな入り方である。以前日本でも―とおもったら、あれはパキスタン海軍の軍人が秋葉原に消えた例であって、本件とは関わらない。

「It was earlier reported that she died of dehydration, but border officials insist the pair had access to food and water while they were in detention.」

「The migrants say they are fleeing persecution, poverty and violence in their home countries. Many say they are aiming to settle in the US despite warnings that anyone found entering the country illegally will face deportation.」

　―死んでしまう例さえ出てきている。とはいえ、収容側のミスで死なせたんだろう！　何をやってるんだ！と叩かれるのは西側諸国水準の話とはいえ、せめて人間らしく死にたい、と強く願った場合、たしかに、亡命を選択する可能性も、まあ、なあ…と思ってしまう昨今ではある。
