「Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei has died days after being doused in petrol and set on fire by a former boyfriend.

The 33-year-old Ugandan marathon runner, who competed in the recent Paris Olympics, had suffered extensive burns after Sunday's attack.」

　享年33。元カレが放火してきて、その火傷で死亡。75％の火傷とくれば、そりゃあ…まあ…。

　二人の娘とともに教会から帰ってきたところを狙われたもの。

「The authorities in north-west Kenya, where Cheptegei lived and trained, said she was targeted after returning home from church with her two daughters.」

　動機は土地争いとみられる。元カレとは地所のを巡って争っていたそうで…。

「A report filed by a local administrator alleged the athlete and her ex-partner had been wrangling over a piece of land. Police say an investigation is under way.」

　パパさん（残された娘たちにとってはお爺ちゃん）にとってはまさしく大黒柱。12～13歳の子とくれば、これからかなり費用が掛かるだろう所で、今後大変そう。

　しかもこの選手氏、大人格の持ち主で、若い衆そのほか仲間の支援に手厚い、本格的にむっちゃ愛され尊敬された人の様子。オリンピックから帰ってきたら、彼女、私にトレーニングシューズ買ってくれたんだよ！という悲痛なコメントがある。

「Kirwa, who had visited Cheptegei in hospital, told the BBC she "was a very affable person. [She] helped us all even financially and she brought me training shoes when she came back from the Olympics. She was like an older sister to me".」

　…ただの殺人罪では足りない、と思えてしまうほどの、そんな事例。しかしこれ、フェミサイドという分類だと雑なんじゃないかな。いや確かに女性が殺害されているんだが、ちょっとこう。
