「Sudanese judoka Mohamed Abdalrasool has pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics after refusing to compete against Israel's Tohar Butbul.

Abdalrasool was matched in the first round against Algerian Fethi Nourine who also withdrew to avoid a possible bout with the Israeli opponent.」

「The African champion was banned by the International Olympic Committee and sent home after his withdrawal which was described as "a protest against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians".」

「It is not known why Abdalrasool, whose country has signed an agreement for full diplomatic relations with Israel, has withdrawn from the 73kg men category.」

　―万が一にも負けるわけにはいかないという事情もあろう。イスラエルの存在そのものが不正である―という信念からは、イスラエル代表選手という存在自体を認めえない、それと試合するとイスラエルの存在を認めたことになってしまう―という、そういう理屈もまあ理解する。

　そんなこと言っても、現に存在しているのだし。

　ただまあ、オリンピック委員会から制裁を受けたりするリスク・不利益を甘んじて受ける点は、その点にかけては堂々としていると評価できるかな。
