Complacency will stop your growth:

経済変動が激しいときでも、常に利益率が五％を示す企業がある。これは、自らの常識に基づいて目標を設定しているからだ。
There are some companies whose profit ratios always show 5% even in a time of volatile economic change. This is because
they have set their goals based on their own common senses.

自分で考えた利益率に達したことで満足してしまい、それ以上の向上を望まなくなってしまうのだ。
They will get satisfied with the results reaching the profit margins they set themselves, and will not intend to improve much more than that.
