Grand blue

Nishiizu diving. Before entering the water, the guide asks "How many?" And he give us weights that is commensurate with one's buoyancy. It was a usual sequence before diving.
Every time I was asked "How many?" and answered "I'm 25 years old" or "I'm about 60 kg because I've gained weight recently".
It was more than 20 years ago, when I was a super beginner..

I liked listening to the regulars on the shuttle bus to and from the dive point. However, I didn't understand the jargon, so most of the story was based on arbitrary guesses. .. ..

The pair of regulars went diving in Port Saint Johns. .. Where is it?...
It seems to be famous for the hordes of sardines that move in the sea. It may the Indian Ocean.

The weights given by the local guide to one of them before diving was over 10 kg. Moreover, It was a steel gas sylinder but not an aluminum gas sylinder contrary to their expectations.
... Well, he thought he should take buoyancy with BC.
He was a typical Japanese who cannot say NO. When I think about it now, the weights of over 10 kg is unthinkably heavy.

After all, on the drop-off, BC's buoyancy was not in time, and he falled down to the  60m water depth. The guide with black face turned blue seemed to chased after him .
His buddy had no choice but to see off him, who was falling deeply, as if he was drawn into something. In his mind, he had no choice but to return to Japan and explain the accident to his parents.
Well, since they came back safely, they talked thet as  a funny story.

At a time when BC wasn't generally available, divers preferred to use heavier weights to get neutral buoyancy in the middle layer. Even though it became common to wear BC, I put on a heavy weights of 5 to 6 kg for a while.
But what about? If we use BC's buoyancy in a torrent, we will be carried away. As we aim at the bottom, the deeper we go, the less buoyancy we lose and the more we fall.

In the end, even after gaining experience, I'm still not sure why he was given a weight of over 10 kg . What was that story? He said that he applied for a weight of 6 kg, but the given weights were 6 pounds (13 kg)?

... He told that he was returning from a depth of 60m with nitrogen narcosis (?) for a while and he seems that he kept seeing hallucinations. I wonder what was he saw in Grand Blue. .. ..
