時代の変化に応じて、新たな国体像を目指す一歩である。日本体育協会が３年前に定めた国体改革のスタートとなる兵庫国体が３０日、開幕する。
Responding to the times change, they have made a step forward toward a new national athletic meet.Hyogo athletic meet,showing the national athletic meet's reform decided three years ago by the Japan Athletic Association, will start on September 30.
(The National Sports Festival in Hyougo Prefecture will kick off Saturday, ushering in sweeping reforms of the national meet that the Japan Sports Association agreed three years ago.This event will mark a step forward in creating a new-style national atheletic meet that fits the changing times.)

６１回目を迎え、夏季、秋季の大会を初めて一本化した。
In this meet marking the 61th, they, for the first time, integrated the con
ventional two events,which have been separately carried out in the summer and in the autumn, into one event.
(The 61st meet this yearwill combine events that previouslywere held separately in summer and autumn.)

3万人に膨らんでいた選手、役員の参加枠を２００８年から１５％削減する計画を前倒しし、６競技で約５００人減らす。
The number of participants will be reduced by about 500 people in the six competitins ,a year ahead of the schedule that from 2008 the number of participants, which has bulged to the 30,000 level ,including executive members, should be reduced by 15 percent.
(By moving up by two years the plan to cut by 15 percent the number of atheletes and officilas taking part in the event,which has swollen to as many as 30,000,this year's meet will see a reduction of about 500 participants in six events.)
