In The Middle Of It All

 

　デビューアルバム「プリーズ・プリーズ・ミー」でビートルズがカバーした「アンナ」を歌った黒人ソウルシンガー、アーサー・アレキサンダーは、初期ビートルズ、ジョン・レノンのネタ帳と言っていい。

このオッサンがよくもまあ、と思うほど切ない歌詞やメロディを書いている。

ニック・ロウがシングルCDのカップリング曲としてカバーし、のちにアレキサンダーへのトリビュート・アルバムにも収録されたこの「イン・ザ・ミドル・オブ・イット・オール」（１９６２年）も、隠れた名曲だ。
