というわけで、ミュージカル『オペラ座の怪人』が、ブロードウェーの最多上演記録でこれまで1位だった『キャッツ』の記録を抜いたと、ニュースで見た（上演回数7486回）。なんとも筆舌に表し難いような、当然と思う気持ちとうれしい気持ちが混交している。
私は劇場でのことを今でも昨日のことのように鮮明に覚えている。私の空想癖もたいがいだが、もし劇場がそこに訪れる観客の感情を少しでも受け入れてくれるソラリスのような生き物であったなら、一観客だった私のことを覚えいてほしいと思う。
