“Barcelona is probably the track on the calendar that every single driver knows better than any other, which also makes it extremely challenging when it comes to trying to get any advantage over your team-mate or the others drivers and teams. But that’s all part of the challenge here.

 

バルセロナは　たぶん(今シーズンの）カレンダーでは　全てのシングルシーターのドライバーが　他のどこより　よく知っているコースだよね。そして　そこはまた　自分のチームメートやライバルのドライバーやチームに対してアドバンテージを得ようとした時、最高にチャレンジングにさせるんだ。だけど　それは　全て　ここでのチャレンジの一部なんだ。

 

 

 

"It’s not just the actual testing that means we all know it well, because, from my time working in simulators for various teams, I know that the Catalunya track is used a lot in the sim. It's an enjoyable track to drive and offers a bit of everything. It is also tough physically, especially with the long right hand corners in particular putting a strain on the neck muscles.

僕たちが　ここをよく知っているというのは　実際にテストしている事だけじゃないんだ。なぜなら　僕が、色んなチームのためにシュミレーターで走ってた時から、カタロニアのコースはシュミレーターで沢山　使用されてたのを知ってたからね。ドライブする事が楽しめるし　全ての物を提供してくれるコースなんだ。体力的に厳しいコースでもあるんだ、特に首の筋肉を疲弊させる長い右コーナーがね。　

 

 

 

“Qualifying is very important at this track, because overtaking is not so easy.

このコースでは予選が　とても重要なんだ、追い抜きが簡単ではないからね。

So far this year, I’ve been relatively happy with my qualifying performance, especially compared to last year, when I had not yet developed an understanding of how to get the most out of the tyres.

今年のこれまでは、予選でのパフォーマンスには比較的満足してるんだ、特に　タイヤから（性能の）ほとんどを引き出す方法を　まだ理解していなかった去年と比較するとね。

 

 

Now, I feel like I’m understanding the car and tyres more and more and that’s given me a lot more confidence going into qualifying sessions.

今は、だんだんマシンとタイヤを理解できるようになってる様な気がするんだ　そして　そのことは僕に　予選に入るとき　より沢山の自信を与えてくれてるんだ。
